I will start this story at the very beginning. For the majority of my life, I floated deep down in the Atlantic ocean, following currents as they chose to pull me. I was at the very depths of the ocean, so deep that every so often I would skim the sandy sea floor and make companions out of all the sand grains that lived there. But when the current dragged me away, I would have to leave and continue along the flow. Why? Because it was all part of the water cycle and it was what all of us water drops do. We all had to do our part to keep water moving around planet Earth, and nothing less. It was like a code all of us drops had to live by; the code of the Water Cycle.
What's very unfortunate though is most of the water cycle I had never experienced before. All of my life, believe it or not, ever since the creation of the Earth, I have been riding the currents in these deep oceans. I have experienced almost all of the oceans and what they had for me, from the tropical waters along the equator to the frozen lands of the arctic. But of all of my time I had never had a chance to break into a higher current along the surface; never had the chance to even come close to evaporation, for I all the time was far too deep down. I never had that chance to even be hit by the golden rays of the warm sun...
What I did not know though, those billions and trillions of years, was the fact that some day all of that time I may have "wasted" down in these deep ocean currents was about to be made up for. Soon, I would have the chance to break free, and I would for once in my time be able to feel those golden sun rays. It all started with, believe it or not, an earthquake.
