"Mama! Papa!" The little girl yells as she looks at the car with blurry vision and her head bleeding, she could hear the scream of her parents inside the car. The little girl cried and screamed until everything went black.
My eyes open as I gasp from my dream, that damn memory , why can't I forget it? I look down at the walkman in my hands and go to restart my music before I hear Michael call my name, "May are you okay, did you have another bad dream?" He asks as his eyes look at me full of concern. "Yeah, just another dream. I'm okay though I promise." I smile at him and lay my head on his shoulder, looking out the window. I laugh as I listen to my aunt and Sam bicker about what the radio stations before he changes to subject to the smell of the ocean as we pass the signs showing that we've officially entered Santa Carla. Micheal turned to look at the sign and I follow and tilt my head a bit as the back of the sign reads 'The murder capital of the world'. Me and Micheal look at each other oddly, before turning forward and looking at the scenery.
We soon stop at a gas station and everyone gets out, except me, I had no desire to get out. I'd rather stay and listen to my music, while watching everyone around. "This place is weird..." I say as Sam gets back in the car and I hear Micheal revve up his motorcycle, my note of the place prompting Sam to speak, "Yeah for real and it smells weird, I just pray there's a comic book store or at least bookstore or I'm running away back to Phoenix." I laugh at Sam's comment and My aunt gets in while asking, "What are you two talking about that has May laughing?" I smile and respond, "Just Sam being weird." Sam sighs but just nods. My aunt laughs before starting the car and driving off with Micheal following behind.
We soon arrive at grandpas and see him lying on the porch, we hurry and get out before going up to him, My aunt going to his side. "Looks like he's dead?" Micheal says while we all look down at him and my aunt responds with, "No he's just a deeper sleeper..." She goes back to trying to wake him and Sam says, "If he's dead, can we go back to Phenix" Micheal hits the back of Sam's head and Grandpa sits up. "Playing dead and doing a damn good job at it." He laughs after he talks, then My aunt hugs him and we start bringing stuff inside. I bring in little boxes because neither Micheal or Sam will let me carry anything big, what overprotective idiots, I smile and shake me head as I set down some stuff on the table and Sam complains about how there's no TV and how there won't be any MTV without it, finally Micheals shushes him and Grandpa comes in and starts talking about his rules, before we all go up and pick out our rooms. I decided to pick the room across from Sam's which is also at the back of the hallway so I got to be secluded a bit. I smile as I look around my new room.
I was sad to leave Phoenix...and my parents' graves, but my uncle was a horrible man so we needed to get away from there, especially my aunt Lucy. She was hurt the most by him and the death of my parents. I sigh as I think about the memory of that night, I grip the side of the bed as my vision turns to the scene of the crash and me laying on the side of the road barely alive as I had gotten ejected from the car in the Impact, I could hear my own screaming and crying as my parents screamed in agony as they bu-I snap out of my memory as Micheal enters the room. "Hey we're gonna go to the boardwalk in a few, you want to come?...Are you okay you're crying?" He rushes over to me and holds me as I can't stop the tears and welcome his hug, crying into his chest. After a few minutes of him patting my head and saying comforting things, I calm down and pull away. "T-Thank you I just was overcame by memories. That's all I'm okay I promise and yeah just let me get changed and then we can go." I smile and he gives me a worried smile back but nods and goes to leave but stops and turns to me, "You know I'm basically your big brother so please come to me if you're not okay...I'll always be here for you little sis." He smiles and I smile back before he leaves, he's right I'm legally his sister now the adoption was finalized right before we moved, but it's still crazy but I love them as my brothers and Aunt Lucy has raised me as her daughter since I was 9 and that was after a year of her staying by my side while I was in critical care. I sigh and shake my head to clear it before going to my bag and grabbing some clothes to change into, I decide to wear a cream sleeveless crop top with my ripped jean shorts with a black belt, and my old black button up softball jersey that was still over sized. What was I thinking when I asked for a extra large, I laugh as I tie up my checkered vans then attach my Walkman to my shorts, and heading to walk out but stop as I spot me skateboard, Thinking a second before grabbing it and heading down stairs, to see Aunt Lucy grabbing her purse. "You look pretty Aunt Lucy, you got a hot date or something." I smile as I tease and she laughs, "Oh no no I just thought I'd dress up a little, I'm feeling pretty." she blushes softly and walks out to the car with me. "Well you're always pretty Aunt Lucy." I smile and hug her before getting in. " She smiles back at me as she gets in. "Well you're always pretty too my dear May." I giggle and say thank you before pulling on my headphones as 'Runaway' by Bon Jovi starts playing, and I lay my head on the window as we start driving to the boardwalk.
We all get out of the car and Micheal chains up his bike to the car, Aunt Lucy says her goodbyes and says to meet up back here at 10 before heading off to the shopping area. Micheal and Sam decide to go check out the concert which I'm not very interested in as I wanted to skate around and maybe find a music shop, they say goodbye and head off. I stand there for a moment before heading to the sidewalk and starting to skate. Soon reaching the entrance where I see four amazing bikes, I stop real quick to look at them. "Damn there better than Micheals', I wonder who they belong to." "They'd belong to my friends and I." I hear behind me, causing me to quickly turn around. I came face to face with a boy not much older than me, with curly dirty blond hair that was long in the back. He was wearing a patchwork jacket, which was so beautiful, and then he wore a white crop top and cowboy jeans and boots. I finally look up again and face him. "Like what you see?" He questions with a sly smirk, his words cause me to blush, "U-Uhm I-I'm sorry...I didn't mean to stare and I-I was just admiring you and your friends bikes..." I say and blush more as I stutter. "It's okay little one, It's cute, What's your name cutie?" He says as he softly holds my chin. I gulp but smile at his compliments. "My name is May. My father wanted me to have a Japanese name but my mother was American so she chose May because it's easy to pronounce and it's both English and Japanese. Well the Japanese version is spelt differently like it is on my birth certificate but I just spell it M..A...Y to make things easier-...Wow I don't know why I told you all of that I-I'm sorry..." The boy laughs at me a little before speaking, "It's okay cutie, it's a pretty name for a pretty girl with an interesting background. I'm Marko by the way. You want to hang out?" I smile at his words and eagerly agree, He smirks and wraps his arm around my shoulder as we start walking down the boardwalk. "Do you want to ride any rides?" He looks down at me as we walk closer to the rides. "Uhm yeah sure it'll be fun." I smile up at him and he nods and leads the way to the carousel as the first ride. We soon get on and I climb up on one of the horses as he just stands next to me. "Don't you want to ride one Marko?" He looks up at me and smiles, I could tell he held something in his eyes but I don't know what. "Nah I'm just gonna stand here so I can protect you." I blush again at his words and face forward as the ride starts and we start going around. I would look between Marko and the crowd but after the third time around I noticed three guys staring at us, I couldn't fully see them but I could tell they were watching us, but right as the ride was coming to a stop they disappeared, but I shook off the weird feeling and turned back too Marko who held out his hand to help me down. I gladly took his hand which he put on his shoulder and then he put his hands on my waist, lifting me down with ease. I smiled and kept my hands around his neck as he kept his hand on my waist, "You ready to ride the roller coaster now." I smirk and respond, "I was born ready." My response causes Marko to smirk and lick his lips, "I knew I liked you." He says before grabbing my hand leading me to the roller coaster. After a little while of riding rides Marko and I start making our way back to the entrance, him of course having his arm around me. "So are you gonna be back here tomorrow?I'd like to hangout again and have you meet my friends." He asks as we reach the bikes, letting go of me as he goes to sit on his bike. "Yeah I should be and I'd love to meet the people own such bad ass bikes." I giggle as he smiles a little from my comment, "Alright then see you tomorrow night cutie." I smile and wave back at him as I head to Aunt Lucy's car and wait there for the idiots and Aunt Lucy. Gosh tonight was different...
