"Who?" Kate asked her. Kate thought about herself for minute why this name sounds so familiar, then she looked up at Edwina, eyes widen and almost shouted "Anthony Bridgerton?" Edwina burst into laughter and Kate is sulking at her reaction. Anthony Bridgerton is Violet's eldest son, he's also as the same age as Kate. Long short story Anthony was a jerk to Kate and she instantly dislike him.

"My god, I was joking Didi. You would never let a men live with you especially someone like Anthony Bridgerton" Edwina giggled the last part knowing she annoyed Kate because she knew how much Kate hated him.

"Why the hell are you mention him Bon?" Kate said. Clearly confused because they haven't mentioned the Bridgerton for years except for Eloise, Daphne and Francesca but all of them..something isn't right. Something feels off. Kate looked at Edwina and asked her; "Bon, are you only here because you wanted to surprise me or is it because mom asked you to convince me to go to the gala?" Edwina chewing her bottom lips and Kate knew what she said was true.

So you only visit me because of mom, i see.....

Before Edwina explained herself Kate interrupted her "Look Bon, I've told mom many times that I don't want to go there. We've made a deal—"

"A deal?" Edwina shrieked "We are talking about our mother, Didi and not a manager or an employee. This gala means a lot of her and she will be devastated if you don't come. People will think that—"

"Are you seriously still care about what people think?" Kate said. Edwina and her mom do really have a bad habits they share; what people think about them and their family. Kate doesn't care what they think about her. People think and talk so what's the point of changing their opinions? Absolutely nothing. Kate's taking a deep breath, trying to cool her mind. She walked to the living room and sit on her couch and looked at the empty spot next to her, Edwina followed Kate's eyes and she knew that Kate wanted her to sit next to her and she did. "Bon.." Kate sighed and her hands start to sweat "I don't wanna see him. I know that i will see him again. All these years I've been avoiding him ....i just can't" she looked at Edwina and all she saw in Edwina's eyes was sadness, anger and sympathy. Kate rubbed her sweaty palms on her jeans and takes a deep breath.

I hate what he's doing to me

"Crap...i'm so sorry, Didi. I forgot about Ry—" Kate looked up at her and clenched her fist tightly

"Don't mention his name." Kate spitted the last part with disgust mixture with rage. Edwina nodded, understand why she doesn't want to hear his name. Edwina looked down at Kate's hands and noticed she clenched her hands tightly. Edwina grabbed her hands and opened them. Edwina whispered; "Didi... don't do this again." Kate pulled her hands away from her and shakes her head.

"I will think about it but this is the last time—"

Edwina interrupted her by her joyful scream and hugged Kate; "This gala is for you, Kate. It's your twenty-six birthday for god sake and mom didn't seen you for a year." Kate laughed and hugged her back.

"So how about you will pack your stuff and we will visit mom?" Edwina asked her and waited for her to say something. Kate sighed and nodded her head.

"Okay..give me some minutes." Kate stand up and walked towards to her room and stopped, she turned around and asked; "Promise me that we will spend time together for real?" Edwina wiggled her eyebrows; "Definitly, Didi."

.....

Meanwhile by the Bridgerton

Anthony Bridgerton you will join with us to the gala. As a family" Violet said. Anthony rolled his eyes, still focused on his paperwork. Anthony is an lawyer and is also a really busy man with work, a lots of work. And now he doesn't wanted his mother to bug him.

"And I've told you many times that i don't have time for some gala. As you can see I'm really busy" Anthony said with a dry tone not removing his eyes on his paperwork as he spoke. Violet rolled her eyes and walked towards at him, grabbed his paperwork. Anthony looked up as his mother, standing up; What the hell—" Violet glared at him and Anthony shut his mouth, he knows how much his mother hates if any of her children curse.

"You may be the men of this house and the eldest child but I'm still your mother and you will always listen to me no matter what. Is that clear my son!" Anthony rolled his eyes but what she said is true. She's still his mother but he also can choose for himself what he can do and what not. Anthony walked to his mother, stretched his hand up so that she'd give him his paperwork. Violet crossed her arms; "Why in the world are my children so stubborn?" Anthony raised a brow and replied with a dry tone; "And why's my mother so melodramatic?"

"Why don't you want to come, son?" his mother asked, clearly curious. He always went to galas, parties and somewhere else where he or his family were invited. She sighed and gives him his paper finally. Anthony muttered a thank you and walked back to his desk where he alway worked. Anthony looked as his mother and he bites his bottom lip not to laugh because his mother is sulking. Literally sulking; "Well mother, I actually planned that i will do my work first then i will come, but like you always do you don't let me explain."

"Excellent my son. I knew you'd come." his mother said, Anthony shut his mouth not to say anything stupid like; you didn't know, how would you know?

"Yeah, i know. Is that it or are you here not only to force me to come to this gala?" Anthony asked and Violet rolled her eyes.  Why is this gala a big deal for her? Anthony asked himself, he dropped his pen and looked up at her; Why is this so important to you? And don't even try to lie, mom. I know you!"

"Busted..." Violet murmured "Well remember my friend Mary?" Anthony scrunched his eyebrows "Mary Sharma?" he asked and she nodded. He knew Mary's her best friend even before he was born. Now he understand why it's a big deal for his mom. She hasn't seen Mary for years. "Wait...did she organized this gala or is she also invited?" Violet shakes her head and said that she organized this gala by herself.  Anthony nodded, curious about it he knows Mary but not too well, but he knows that she doesn't organized anything by herself unless it's a special day.

"Is it her birthday?" Anthony asked , his mother shakes her head. He scratched his head "She's pregnant?" Violet eyes widen and she slaps his arm

"She is literally the same age as I am, Anthony! What nonsense." and Anthony chuckled. "It's her daughter's birthday today and we are invited. Mary and I have been contacting each other for weeks now so she thought that we should come. Besides you're probably happy to see her again."

"Who? Mary?" Anthony asked

"No, son. Kate, Kate Sharma." She said, hoping he could still remember Kate. They both were childhood friends until Kate's family moved to New York for five years then they moved back to London but Kate kept distanced to everyone.. even from herself. Anthony remembered her now, the memories of her's blurred but yet he still remember her. What would she look like now? Does she remember me? Will she come? All these questions he asked himself right now is weird. Why should he care? They haven't seen each other for eighteen years.

"Kate Sharma..." He whispered. He likes the way he spelled her name but he has no idea why.
