"No."

"The fuck?"

"Why can't you get along already?" Megumi and I just watched as Nobara and Yuji started bickering.

They were talking about where we should go on our day off. Yuji suggedted the movies and Nobara wasn't for it. Megumi and I just looked between the two with blank expressions, already tired of their shit.

I sighed. "I think I'd rather be called in for a mission."

Megumi chuckled beside me. "Same. It's better than dealing with their childish bickering."

I nodded, then turned to face him. "What did you wanna do today?"

His eyes widened briefly as he met my gaze, quickly turning his face away. "I usually prefer to rest alone in my room."

"Ah, ok. I was just gonna go somewhere I've really wanted to visit. Have fun resting!" I smiled and waved at him before turning and walking away.

I heard footsteps, then seeing Megumi beside me from the corner of my eye. I turned to look at him, tilting my head to the side questioningly.

He didn't turn to face me. "Where did ya wanna go?"

I giggled quietly, turning to face forward while walking. "I thought you wanted to rest alone in your room?"

He shrugged. "I said that's what I usually try to do, never said that's what I was gonna do. So, where ya going?"

"Well, this new cafe opened up this week and I've been dying to check it out. I didn't have time till now since we've been so busy with all these curses popping up. So that's what I wanna do: get cake and coffee at a new place!"

"Mind if I join?"

"I don't mind! I was gonna ask if anyone else wanted to come with... but the teachers and second years were busy, then Yuji and Nobara started bickering before I could get a word in." I sighed. "Having you as company is just fine. I can pay since I'm taking you."

Megumi shook his head. "I can pay for my own things. Don't worry about me. I'm also just trying to get away from everyone else."

"Oh? Why is that, Megumi?"

He sighed. "They're getting really frustrating."

"I see."

"I have a question for you, Y/n."

"Hm? What is it?"

"Why.... Why does your brother wear either sunglasses or a blindfold, while you don't?"

"Easy, keeping our eyes covered helps protect them while not releasing too much cursed energy at any given time. That's why he doesn't take down his blindfold or sunglasses until he wants to release more power."

"Ok.... But why don't you wear them?"

"Cuz I don't like to. And I usually suppress all my cursed energy until I need it, maybe I allow some cursed energy to flow but it's only a small amount. That answer your questions?"

Megumi nodded. "Yeah."

We arrived at the cafe, ordering what we wanted and paying. We sat down together at a table in a quiet corner of the cafe.

"I didn't think you'd actually like sweets, Megumi."

He shrugged. "I do, just not too many. You have a sweet tooth like yoir brother, though."

I looked away, scratching the back of my head. "It's nowhere near as bad as him. But, yeah, I do like sweeter things."

He nodded, leaning back in his seat. "Do you always come to new cafes when they open?"

I smiled softly. "Usually I'm able to go on their openings, but this time we were all too busy. I just really like to see what's good. It also comes in handy to be able to give recommendations to anyone interested in cafes or sweets, or just a place to go to in order to relax after a long stressful period of time."

He cracked a small smile. "That seems pretty nice of you."

I shrugged. "Well, most sorcerers have to deal with a whole bunch of shit. I just like being able to help however I can, even if it means doing research to give suggestions on relaxation to others."

"Oh, so this is 'research'?" He smirked, leaning towards me.

I chuckled, turning away in an attempt to hide my blush. "Well... kinda. It's also simply for my own enjoyment. But these kinds of places are nice."

He leaned back in his seat, the smirk turning back into a slight smile. "Yeah, the calm atmosphere is exactly what I need after dealing with everyone else. I'm glad they didn't come, it would totally ruin the mood."

"The mood?" I tipped my head to the side, confused by what he meant.

He turned away, using his hand to cover his face. "You know, the relaxed mood."

"Oh ok." I gave a big smile. "I remember Satoru saying 'the mood' and usually spoke about it in a romantic or sexual sense."

I could swear his facs turned red, his eyed wide as he looked at me again. "Wh-what?"

"Yeah, Satoru always says 'the mood' when he's referring to time he spent with a girl."

"He's a bad influence."

I laughed. "He really is! But... this calmer time with you is nice. We should do things like this more often."

"We should." He murmured it, almost too quiet for me to hear.

I smiled as the waiter brought our orders out and I began eating my sweets and drinking my coffee. I looked up and saw Megumi looking at me.

"Is everything alright, Megumi? You're not touching the things you ordered...."

He shook his head. "Sorry, I was just thinking."

"What were you thinking about?"

"Something I feel is important."

"Like Tsumiki?"

He gave a small smile. "Something like that." He took a sip of his coffee, grabbing a bite of his cake. "This is pretty good."

I was already focused on my sweets and coffee again. "Yep! I think this might be my new favorite place, Megumi!"

"Mine too."

I glanced up with my peripheral vision and saw his smile get slightly bigger as he looked at me, still eating his cake and drinking his coffee.

I smiled, glad that he's happy. I don't care if he doesn't like me, I just love seeing him happy. I think I'll be able to still be fine even if I'm not the one making Megumi happy.
