Chapter two: Beach day

I set out my towel and applied sunscreen while the boys tried figuring out how to set up the umbrella. Me, Cat, Val all layed down and started sunbathing. We laid there for a while, or at least till the boys and Sam somehow got some little kids to give them squirt guns, and started spraying us with them. Instantly I jumped to my feet. And took the clothes that I was wearing off so I was just in my swimsuit. Me, Cat and Val tried running away from them. We ran into the water. All of them splashing each other with water. "You guys are jerks" Cat yelled " I didn't want to get wet yet" she pleaded. We all laughed and started white washing her.

Around 1:30 we got out to eat lunch. Elijah and Cole handed everyone a sandwich and a fruit cup from the cooler. "Preschooler lunch, Awesome" Cole commented. "Hey listen, I put my time into making this," Cat said. We laughed. I was happy. Like actually being happy for the first time for months, maybe years. True happiness comes when you're with the ones you love the most. and for me that's my friend.

When the sun started setting Elijah came and sat next to me. "Is it bad I think today was the first day i've seen you actually smile like ever" he said with a smile. "That's because I always have a fake smile plastered on, The only time I let my true self show is around you guys"

"Why's that?" he asked with a confused expression.

"Because at home my parents don't like my personality, and the only time I'm away from them is at school, when I am with you guys." He smiled

"Have I ever told you that you are a amazing person, you shouldn't believe what they think of you because its whats on the inside that counts and if they dont like whats on the inside then they can fuck off" I smiled and turned my head hoping he wouldn't notice.

A couple minutes later Val and Sam came back with Cat and Cole. "Who wants to play truth or dare?" Cole asked

"Im down" Me and Elijah said in sync the rest shook their heads.

"Cat truth or dare?" I asked "umm, truth I guess i'm kind of scared"

"Is it true you and Cole have been dating since eighth grade?" Elijah asked. "Yes, it is"

"Val truth or dare"Cat asked "Dare duh I aint no pussy" "I dare you to kiss your best friend" She turned to Sam and kissed her. "Elijah truth or dare" Val questioned. " Dare" He said. The words that came out of Val next made me nervous. "I dare you to text your crush." "down" He said, grabbing his phone. "And sent." Moments later my phone went off. Everyone's eyes shot to me but he just looked at the ground. "Whos that from" Cat asked "E...Elijah" I said. Val started laughing and said "Haha we told you he liked you back-" Val said covering her mouth like she didn't mean to say it. I was embarrassed and probably bright red. To my surprise Elijah moved closer to me and whispered in my ear "you shouldn't be embarrassed I said it first" I looked down. I shouldn't be, doesn't mean I'm not.

The others decided to go on a walk and let me and Elijah talk. I kept my head down till he said something. "So is it true" he paused "that you like me." Great again I was blushing "Y-yeah" I said quickly and put my head back down. He lifted my head and made me look him in the eye. "I like you too," he said trying to hide that he was blushing too. I don't quite remember what happened after that other than him leaning in and kissing me. It was brief, but also probably the best kiss I ever had. Then me and him just cuddled together under the stars.

"We leave you guys alone and all you do is spoon," Cole said sarcastically. "Dude, shut up" Elijah said.

Soon enough we had to leave. The whole ride home Val and Cat bombarded me with questions. "What happened?" "Did you kiss?" they asked. "Yes we did and we talked we're not even dating what did you expect us to do" Val laughed and replied " Its you the horniest out of us all I expected you to do more" I laughed

Along the ride home I fell asleep. Sometime around 12am they woke me up to get inside. "What time is it?" I asked groning at the lights in the house camper. "It's a little after midnight," Val said.

After I did my nightly routine I collapsed to the bed. But I remembered something: Me, Val, Kiri, and Cat had to go to LA to look at the house. In two days. "Guys, what time is the flight?" I asked, "Is it in two days?" Cat said "we have to be there at 3am" Val added. "Do you wanna go shopping tomorrow, I need clothes worthy of California?" They agreed and fell asleep in a few minutes. It's true though, most of my clothes i've had since freshman year.

I was too caught up in my thoughts to sleep so I went to the table and went on my phone and scolded through tiktok for a while. When one specific video stood out to me. It was the egg fight we had the night before. I smiled. My heart nearly skipped a beat when I got a text and my ringer wasn't down. But my mood changed as soon as I saw the text. It was Elijah. "Are you up?" I replied with "yeah." "I had a fun time tonight, well last night" he said.

We texted until 3 and then said goodnight because I had to get up early.
