"You're not joking, right?" he spoke like he was trying to make sure no one but me heard him, I finally gained the confidence to look up at him again and saw him covering the parts of his face where his hair wasn't with his hand.
"I'm not joking, Sam. I think I'm in love with you." well, If I'm going to say it, might as well repeat it.
"For how long?..." he sounded almost sad this time, I sighed again and decided to be truthful
"Probably since I've met you, but I just only realized my feelings about a month ago, I'm so sorry- I know you're with h-" he cut me off by pulling me into a tight hug that I swear, that hug had enough electricity in it to power China.
I was confused, happy, and did I mention confused? "Samuel?" I hugged back and repeated myself a little louder "Samuel?!" he jumped a little bit as if I jolted him out of a daydream.
"Huh? Sorry." He pulled away from the hug which made me a little sad but I understood why he did it. "Are you okay?" I know that's something he'd normally ask ME but I was concerned about the random hug, normally he asks first.
"Samuel, are you o-" He cut me off and started to answer,
"Yeah, I'm okay, I always am. But L, I have a confession to make." If it was possible for people to melt with anxiety, I'd be a puddle after the rainstorm I swear the rose needs.
"Go on," I replied quietly, anxiously awaiting his response.
"I've always liked you too, why do you think I always try my best to hang out with you, make sure you're okay, and care for you?". Those were the words I've always dreamed of hearing, the words that changed my entire life but then I remembered his girlfriend.
"I thought you were in love with her?" Samuel's smile slightly faded,
"I did once, she's changed so much, I barely even understand who she is anymore." I looked around, waiting for her to pop up out of nowhere and begin yelling at us but it never happened.
"Look, L. She's not you, she never can compare to you. I want to be with you. You're my best friend, I'll always choose to be with you over anyone else." I began crying and I was the one to pull him into a hug this time...
