the family gathers at the door leading out to the courtyard around an hour later, seeing as luther decided to get his little memorial service started as quickly as possible before lynette, now a little drunker than klaus, could get more alcohol in her system.

"hey, lynne," klaus whispers as they get their umbrellas ready, "i heard your little lover's quarrel with five earlier. wouldn't be surprised if the whole neighbourhood heard it."

"ew. gross," lynne slurs, shrugging on her black leather jacket. "we're not... that. lovers. you're crazy. shut up, klaus."

"even ben heard it from the afterlife."

"we both know he's somewhere around you right now, mofo," the girl responds, snatching the umbrellas diego handed to them. oh, if only she could see the smirk ben was giving klaus right now.

she practically tosses the clear umbrella with pink lining over to klaus before leaning in closer to him. "if you so much as breathe another word about this," she whispers, "i'll steal all your drugs and flush them down the toilet."

"if you think that'll stop me, you're the crazy one."

from the front of the group, allison hands five an umbrella and tries her best not to scowl from the way he took it from her. "heard your argument with lynne. i guess it's normal for you two to fight, though, especially with your... history."

"what the hell did you just say?" five hisses, glaring up at the woman.

"you heard me."

"well, what's it supposed to mean?" he asks, becoming more irritated by this family of idiots by the second.

"don't you remember what you told me and luther a few weeks before our thirteenth birthday?"

"you mean, what i told you after i caught you two making out in your room? by the way, that whole thing just added to my childhood trauma. you're lucky i haven't chastised you about it yet."

"five." allison crosses her arms. "don't change the topic."

ah, if looks could kill. "if you told her what i said, i will end you."

allison rolls her eyes at him before he turns around and pushes his way to the back to stand next to klaus instead, ignoring the girl on the other side of his brother. and thank god he did, because she could get just as aggressive as him when drunk.

the seven of them, along with their mother, soon walk out into the courtyard, umbrellas open to shield them from the pouring rain. "did something happen?" grace questions, looking questionably happy.

"dad died," allison responds, looking confused. "remember?"

grace's mood changes instantly. "oh. yes, of course." allison looks at one umbrellaless diego, who stood between her and grace. "is mom okay?"

"yeah, yeah, she's fine," diego dismisses, watching as klaus nonchalantly lights a cigarette after placing the roll between his lips. "she just needs to rest. you know, recharge." pogo, the monkey-human butler of the family, joins them from one of the many other doors and glances over at an also umbrella-less luther, who was leading the ceremony. "whenever you're ready, dear boy."
