I am from the Welsh twin dragons set my mother has.

I am from the boil ups my dad does.

I am from the trees, the hills and the breeze that blows in my face.

I am from the roar my dad does every year.

I am from arthritis and dyslexia,

from "you can do it" and "hurry up."

I am from Rotorua, Taupo and Taumarunui,

from farms and the countryside,

from the nights my father spent eeling when he was little

and the days spent in the bush with his dad.

I am from "Beer o'clock time" and "Spoon!"

From "Going rabbit shooting"

to "I'm going to bed."

I am from Welsh/Australian and New Zealand blood.

I am from Meat Loaf and Pink Floyd.

I am from pictures of my family when I was little

but not so many from the present.
