Even with my eyes closed, I could still picture an American legend roping and riding a monster whirl wind like it was the National Rodeo Finals. I gripped my steering wheel hard, getting a feel as I patiently wait for the call. The call I was waiting for from the N.S.S.L.
The skies were a dark green, which if you know what that means, it means run for shelter and get religion fast. But weather reports called for an EF1, possible EF2. Nothing me and my team of storm chasers weren't already prepared for. We were chasing misters. So we needed monsters of our own as well as a guardian angel. I'm driving a supped up 2004 Ford Mustang with 12" thick hair plating for protection and 12" inch thick re-enforced glass.
Noelle, my second in command, had a beast best suited to be a mobile storm warning....a '69 Pontiac GTO Judge! A car so mean looking that it'll send a twister running, but this is Mother Nature we're talking about. It'll take a lot to scare her. Then we have Billy in the mobile lab. He's the brains behind the magic. He'd let us know if there's any changes in a tornadoes track, whereas twisters have an annoying knack for shifting their paths of destruction. And last but certainly not least, we have our eyes in the sky, two sisters Annie and Kelly and they've been flying since they were little and I couldn't think of anyone else two be our guardian angels for us on the ground. Their airship has a front mounted I-Max level camera that's capable of getting shots well within the funnel, even at a safe distance away. What do we call ourselves you ask? We're known as Descendants of Pacos Bill. And who am I? You can call me Jack.
"Jack...come in...Jack!" I heard on my onboard CB radio. "Go for Jack! Whatcha got for us Nancy?" I answer back to Nancy, who works with us closely from the safety of her desk at the local National Weather Service. "I'm seeing a strong cell moving towards Atlanta." She said. "Yeah I'm seeing it too. Could be a big one." I switch channels and start rallying the troops. "Okay guys. There's a strong storm cell moving towards Atlanta. We gotta get moving and try to beat it there. Noelle, head to the underground and warn everyone to get for cover then you do the same. Billy will run with you and be your mobile support. According to Doppler it's moving northwest to southeast so the twins and I will try to buy you guys time and intercept. If anyone has no objects and clean pair of undies on...LETS MOVE!!!!"
