I have loved Benjamin Calders since the summer of 2016 when his family moved in right next to mine. We were in the fifth grade, and on that very same autumn afternoon, the leaves began to turn brown, and fall off the tree. I fell in love with an untouchable boy, a boy who was soon to become my best friend. A boy who was about to be the love of my life, yet that love would never be allowed to be rightfully expressed, as I said earlier, my boy was untouchable.
Benjamin Calders is the eldest child of Maria and Seth Calders. Ben's father is a cop and his mother is a real estate agent. They are high school sweethearts, yet Ben has told me their image isn't what it seems. He has described the fights, the screaming, and the shattered glass. He has informed me of the bruises his mother has endured, from the supposed love of her life, I worry about her. Benjamin has a younger sibling, Thomas Calders, although he is never home due to attending a boarding school in Guam on a sailing scholarship. I have only seen him during the holidays. I became best friends with Benjamin in the sixth grade since we were both walking into a new school, it felt like fate. We clicked, complete opposites, I loved theater and art, and he carried a passion for baseball and girls. We both played piano, something we bonded over a ton. I kept amazing grades, he needed a push once in a while. I was always willing to be that push for him. My greatest passion was Ben.
Now in the tenth grade, I still carry these feelings for him. Unknowing what to do when you are in love with a complete opposite, I never realized where our relationship would lead. He was the first person I came out to. I cried and he held me, told me it would be okay and I just needed to take my time. He was supportive, I have only told him, only him I trust. I never infer anything but we have held stares. I hate eye contact unless it's with Ben. It's only with him where all my discomforts disappear, only with him.
