Haley pulled her ear buds out, walking into the girls restroom. Over to the sink she walked, looking in at herself through the mirror. She sighed, taking a deep breath. She went to move a strand of hair behind her ear before coming to a stop. Something moved from in the corner of her eye, everything was so still it seemed off. A lone butterfly wing glided down and smoothly landed on the checkered floor beside her feet. It was a left wing, black and white and patterned like a monarch. But where was the other one? She thought. It was the strangest thing, and Haley felt the butterfly's in her stomach. (Haha, a pun?) But before she could really think about it, there was a clutter of noise from behind her, beside the short stalls. Turning around, things got even weirder. It was a boy. First thought, why is there a boy in here, this is the girls restroom. But she pushed the question away for a second knowing that he didn't come in here, no one did, the door hasn't opened since she came in. Aside from the random appearance, there were too many things to think about for Haley. The one thing she did realize during these quick few moments of silence that were racking her brain was, he was kind of, pretty. That sounds weird, I know, but trust me. He had black, some-what long hair. Normally people described it as "emo" hair. It covered his forehead and stopped above his eyes in a choppy cut that got just slightly longer on the one side. He looked about 16 or 17 years old. He had a hoodie that had a font of some sort saying something she couldn't make out, and black jeans.
"H-hey." You could tell his voice was shaking as he stuttered the word in attempt to break the ice. Haley, you-who? She asked herself inside her head. Honestly, she had no idea what to say. She tried to communicate anyways though, thinking she would eventually know what's going on here.
"Uh, hi." She breathed out. Inside her, it felt like time had just stopped.
"I can explain," He continued. "but you have to believe me."
"Okay." Every little bit of her wanted to know so badly if was all just a dream. Her curiosity also pushed her, even if she didn't believe it, she wanted to hear it all.
"Here." He grabbed her hand and pulled them through the door of the restroom, and into the hall. The checker patterned floor was empty, the walls carried no echo's. Great, missing a class today I guess. Haley thought, letting herself be tugged behind the boy through the school halls. He was leading towards the main entrance and exit. Everything was happening so fast, She was tired, as if it were getting dark and she wanted to just put her mind to rest for a little bit. She jerked out of this tiering feeling as her ears met the clinking sound of the double door opening. Strong rays of sunlight met her skin. It felt like little dandelions being placed in perfect rows on her body where the light hit. Their connection parted, and she was lead down the gray cement steps levitating her from the rest of the warm ground around them. They went to the side in a big plot of grass with trees scattered through it. Spring had began to take it's place not too long ago, everything was warm and green, along with alive. The boy slowed and stopped in front of a decent sized tree. It was a tree that looked perfect for sitting in, and as haley thought just that, he latched himself to the trunk. The smell of the bark lingered through the air. It was a smell she always loved through her childhood. While thinking about all of this, she found herself climbing the tree in his steps, tracing them until she reached the branch, they made their way across and sat.
"I know I'm going to sound crazy. I know that." He admitted, he didn't expect a response.
