By the time we got to the top of the stair case we had figured out how we were going to get through the attic and retrieve the book. You see when we were little our parents set up an obstacle course in our back yard. We would have to complete it daily. As we got older they started to blind fold us so that we could do it without looking.
We would ask them why we had to do it. Our dad used to say, "The reason why we make you do this every day is because one day your going to use this." He never said for what though, but now that we knew why they had us do it sent shivers up my spine.
Lily reached out to grab the door knob. At that instant Clara grabbed Lily's arm. I remembered that mom and dad set up an electronic barrier on each of our doors when we were little so that if any broke into the house they couldn't attack us.
"That was a close one. You okay Lily?"
"Yeah. I completely forgot about the barrier. Guess we have to find the loose panel. Do you remember the code to get in?"
"Yeah it's 8255. There."
The door opened to revile and empty room. Or was it. I thought to myself Maybe the security measures involved traps that you can't see. I then saw Milli and Lily holding each others arms and throwing each other over the in visible obstacles.
Clara and I watched as the got closer and closer to the other side. Obstacles were attacking them this way and that but they kept on going.
They finally reached the other side of the room and turned off the security system. Clara and I knew that we would still have to fight obstacles. Our parents put in two systems so that if someone did turn off the first they would still have to beat the second one.
Clara and I did our routine and reached the other side. We just had to get through one more door. This one was different from the first. It had 4 hand scanning ports. Each of us put a hand in the proper sized port and the door opened. We stepped in and we found what we were looking for. The Book of Wonders.
