Hi! I'm y/n y/l/n, I'm 16 years old and live in figure 8. I'm not a kook though, not in a thousand years, I'm a pogue. I'm friends with all the pogues, but JJ. He dislikes me and I dislike him, it's mutual. I don't know what I did to him but he doesn't like me, so I don't like him. I live with my guardian, Lilly. After my parents died and everyone else in my family refused to take me in, she adopted me. She's 21, and she's hardly ever here, but when she is she buys us beers and pretty much leaves me alone, apart from the occasional text. As long as I don't end up dead or pregnant she couldn't care less. So I live with John B most of the time, I have my own room and everything. JJ hates it, so I love it.

We live on the south side or the cut. Home of the working class who make a living busing tables, washing yachts, running charters. The natural habitat of... drumroll, please...the Pogues. That's us. Pogues, pogies, the throwaway fish. Lowest member of the food chain. Okay. So, the downside of Pogue life is we're ignored and neglected. But the upside of Pogue life? We're ignored and neglected, which means we do whatever we want, whenever we want.

John B's like my brother, constantly worrying about me. It's annoying but kinda cute I guess. Kie and Sarah are my best friends in the world. They've always been there for me, especially when my parents died. Pope and I are great friends, we care for each other but there's nothing special there. Then there's JJ, hot surfer boy who has slept with half the island and has nothing better to do than smoke, drink and annoy the hell out of me. Yes I called him hot, there's no denying it. Don't tell him I said that though, I'd never live it down. It's not like I'd ever catch feelings for him. He's an ass, no doubt there.

So, welcome to Outerbanks, paradise on earth. It's the sort of place where you either have two jobs or two houses. Two tribes, one island...
