It had been a long day at school, thanks to Becca and her group of stuck-up witch bitches who cornered me in the halls again. I know when I go home it was not going to get any better so instead of going straight home, I decided to take a walk in the woods. I walked my normal trek through the forest, it had recently rained so the pathway was fairly slippery. I wasn't too focused on that and completely spaced out while trying to decide if I should head home or I should continue my walk. As I was doing this, I didn't notice the mud sliding in front of me causing me to slide down the hill. I screamed for my life and fell down the steep hill making the mudslide up my back. I stopped falling all of a sudden and heard a grunting sound underneath me, I looked down and it turns out I was laying on top of a person!
The person who was underneath me started to dramatically flail around
"What is this? if you stay on me longer I might die!" They started to make fake-sounding wheezing sounds making me quickly start to panic and quickly get up.
"Oh my I'm sorry oh please don't die!" The random person started to display a dramatic death scene while using some jelly from a sandwich they were eating to make it look like there was blood.
"Oh! the agony! Oh! The pain, what is a poor little sprite to do?" They took a deep breath and reached a hand up to the canopy. "I'M SORRY MOTHER I SHALL RETURN HOME TO YOU SOON!!" They shakily reached their hand further up before it dropped to the ground. I started to panic
"Oh my God! I just killed somebody!! Okay, what did that book I read once say? I need a saw, a shovel, and a plastic bag yeah!" The person sat up and dramatically scooted away
"You want to what!?" They quickly shrank to a smaller size. "Oh, great now I'm gonna be stuck like this for at least an hour." They kicked a piece of dirt, I looked at them and sighed in relief.
"So you're not dead?" They looked over and tossed a dirt clump at me.
"Do I look dead to you?" I reached out to touch them.
"What are you?" They moved away and flew up to a tree that was close by then grumpily looked down at me.
"Keep your grubby human hands away from me!" They sat down on the limb they were on I curiously studied them. Then I hatched a plan, something I did with my cats.
"Ooooooo! Look at this shiny pen!" I pulled a pen out of my pocket and clicked it a few times. They sighed and looked away.
"A simple shiny object such as a glittery, bright pen will not tempt me what do you think I am? A moth " I leaned in and clicked it a couple more times. They then, out of nowhere, swooped down and latched onto the pen.
"HAHAHA, IT'S MINE NOW!!!" I looked at them and tried to conceal my laughter but failed.
"You're funny where are you staying by the way? If you have nowhere, you could come to stay with me! There's more of this where I'm at!" I bounced the pen a little while they thought about it, though it didn't take too long.
"Yeah, okay I'll come to stay with you stranger..." I looked at them.
"Fair enough, my name's Daisy! Just so we are not strangers!"
"The name's Pembrooke Perry, but my friends call me Pem." I smiled and bowed to fit their regal stance.
"It's very nice to meet you Pembrooke" They shook their head.
"I said my friends call me Pem, you're my buddy now!" I laughed and put them in my shirt pocket before walking home. As I walked up to the door, I could hear the screeching of my mother and father fighting again, surprise, surprise. I tried to quietly walk in but to no avail, my father heard me and came barbarically running.
"WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN!?" I took a deep breath and calmly replied.
"I was out walking in the woods." I retreated upstairs while my father was yelling and cursing up a storm. Pem poked their head out and whined while rubbing their ears.
"What was that thing?"
"Well, that thing was my father." My mouth felt sour as I claimed him as my family.
"Oh, jeez I'm so sorry." They sank into my pocket when I flopped down on my bed.
"I just wish I could leave and never look back!" Pem looked at me with an adventurous smile
"Well, you could, travel with me! We could go everywhere, have some fun adventures, and never return here again!" They emphasized their movements when they said 'here'. I thought about it for a second, anything beats this bout of purgatory.
"Yeah, I would love to do that! let me pack my bags and we can head out." That's exactly what I did. Once I was done, I climbed out of my bedroom window with Pem close behind. We started On what I hope to be the journey of a lifetime!
After a while, we came up to a lake completely covered with fog.
"Hey Daisy, I think we should get in that boat and see where this goes!" I looked at Pem like they were crazy.
"Why would we do that? For all we know, that fog could be a death trap!" Pem looked at me with an unreadable look. Which they quickly replaced with a smile.
"I'm serious! We should take it." I reluctantly agreed and went in the boat then started to paddle. It felt like hours when we came to a very open and rather off-putting area. In the middle of the clearing, stood a figure of what looked like a slender and hunched woman. At that point, Pem had already shifted to normal size again meaning they served as my eyes.
"Hey Pem, what is that creature standing in the water?" They turned around to look, they said that standing there was a tall woman with long black hair just staring at us. They seemed highly uneasy as I tried to call out to the woman, all I heard was a tired and deep laugh before she spoke.
"I was all worked up and worried about a mere little spite and a princess who pretends to be human!" I looked at Pem in confusion, they just looked mad.
"LITTLE? WHO THE HECK DO YOU THINK YOU'RE CALLING LITTLE!?" The woman looked Pem deep in the eye.
"You should really watch how you speak to your future queen, you idiotic worm! Br a useful little sprite and hand over that girl you have there, she must be put down properly this time. In fact if you do then maybe you can reclaim that respect you had before you started all of this adventuring mess." Pem stood protectively imfront of me.
"If you want to get to my buddy, you'll have to go trough me first!" the women smiled and shrugged.
"Fine, I'll just kill you both it doesn't bother me if trash like you is disposed of!" She then shot a fire ball at us. Pem quickly covered me from the attack.
"Hey! Be carful or..." I grabbed their bag and looked at their snack pouch. "Or I'll take away a strawberry for every scratch!" They pouted as another attack was sheilded
"That's not fair!" Fire flew around them but not even a cinder would touch me.
"It is! now be careful!" they nodded and turned back around as the lady started another attack.
"HAHAHA! Your mere powers are no match for Pembrooke Perry!" They smiled rebelliously after they spat in her direction.
"Oh? But dear, I can do way more than just that! Killing princess Daisy in front of you is gonna be amazing!"
