Y/N's pov

"I told you, Sharon, I'm not going to prom with you." I crossed my arms. Sharon batted her wide blue eyes at me. That look must've gotten her a lot of places. But not here. Not this time.

"Why wouldn't you, Y/N?" She purred, stepping closer. "I'm the captain of the cheerleaders, you're the captain of the football team. The whole school's expecting us to go together" She twirled a lock of golden hair around her finger and winked flirtatiously. I stifled a grimace. Sure, Sharon was gorgeous-tall, willowy. She almost looked like a doll. But she was also as empty as one. Oh, and did I mention she was an A-level, state-of-the-art clinger?

I did date girls like Sharon. I was not exactly a player, though. When I was in a relationship, I made sure I was truly committed. I made sure I like that girl, I won her over, then I dated her.

And since I was 120% sure I was not the least bit into Sharon, there was just no way I would agree with this.

"Look, Sharon." I ran a hand through my Y/H/C hair, letting out a deep huff. "There are probably a lot of guys who want to go out with you. I'm just not one of them, okay? Go find yourself another date, then both of us can be happy."

Sharon inspected her nails. "So who are you going with, if it's not me?"

I frowned. I had been waiting to ask out one of the cheerleaders, Natasha, cute and pretty, your typical cheerleader. But she wouldn't go with me if she knew Sharon had invited me. Damn.

Sharon smirked triumphantly. "See? Don't worry, most of the school already know you've asked me out, You don't have to worry about going single."

"What?" I hissed.

Sharon smiled. "Unless you have a secret girlfriend that no one knows about, which you don't, you're coming with me."

I bit back a curse. If I had learned anything in high school, it was that there was no changing what most students thought was true. The more you denied, the more they believed it. And no girl on the cheerleader team would agree to go out with me if they already knew I had a date with, ugh, their leader.

"See you at prom then, Y/N/N." She turned on her heels and strutted back down the hall.

I had two options now, and none of them seemed good.

First, I could stay at home, and be the historical first football team captain who missed out on the game before prom AND the dance that came after. Not bad, considering my second choice.

Second, I could go. With Sharon. I groaned out loud as I grabbed my books from my locker.

"Sounds like you have an awesome choice, dude" Pietro laughed. We were in the school gym, towering ourselves dry after practice. Dont get me wrong, he was my best friend, but I wasn't kidding when I said sometimes I hated him. Such as now.

"Dude, use that big head of yours and help me think of a way out," I grumbled, punching his shoulder. He laughed again. Nothing put Pietro off. His dark brown hair was a mess, flopping down into his eyes. Even now, when he was dressed casually, he could've gotten half of the school to fall in love with him. "Besides, this isn't fair. Why isn't Sharon badgering you?"

"Because I already asked Darcy out, and the whole school knows it. Just get yourself a girlfriend, problem solved" He smirked at me.

"I'm not looking to date right now, man. I haven't found a girl I really want to go out with."

"Doesn't matter." Pietro grinned and grabbed a towel to dry his hair, We had just showered after practice. "You just have to flnd a girl for the prom, doesn't matter if you're really into her. Date her for a month."
