"I can't promise you that."
"What do you mean, Caity?"
"I can't promise you that he didn't do that. I'm sorry."
The realisation of what he did hit me like a brick. Him, of all people. The one who promised he'd never hurt me, the one who was always there for me, my best friend. The tears started streaming down my face. I covered them with my hands and ran the to bathroom. Caitlyn followed.
"Eve. C'mon. Don't cry. It wasn't that bad. Honestly."
"Leave me alone."
"Please.. Please come out."
I opened the door and stood staring into Caitlyn's green eyes.
"You know what hurt the most? Is that you, Hillary and Hannah all knew yet you didn't tell me? What kind of best friends do that? At least Tamika had the guts to tell me what she thought was going on."
"But Leah made-"
"I don't wanna hear it. Lets just get to soccer practice."
The walk there was silent and awkward. Too many things were rushing through my head. Questions that needed answering. I turned to Caitlyn.
"How long have you known?"
"2 weeks. Well since it happened. Hillary and Hannah saw and they told me. We all went up to Leah and told her that she should tell you but she made us promise not to.."
"Don't you think I had the right to know?"
"Yeah. I know you did. But I told you."
"No you didn't. I made you.."
I was frustrated and upset enough without getting into a fight with Caitlyn so I turned away and continued walking.
Just as we arrived at the soccer field I turned to Caitlyn and said "Tell Leah I know and tell her to warn Spencer because as you can probably tell, I'm so not impressed."
