Liam Zander, a 78 year old guy just retired from the job site he had worked at for 30 years. So he has decided to move out to the countryside where he can finally rest without any stress. His wife had died many years ago.Zander -
I was sitting outside listening to the sound of traffic one last time before I moved. The moving guys were gonna be here around 1:00 pm and it was currently 9:47 am. I just retired from my line of work as I had enough money to live the rest of my life in peace.
After a few hours the moving crew had finally got here, I already had everything packed up and ready to go. The only thing we had to do was load it into the moving truck and get it to my new house. I'm gonna miss the city as it was where I met my wife years ago. We also bought this house together but I think it's time to move on, she would have been happy to know that I moved on a wasnt stuck in the past anymore.
We just got done moving everything into the moving truck, so I got in my truck and started to lead the way to the new house. The moving guys followed all the way there and helped move stuff in. I actually gave them a huge tip for all the help. Once they left I started to get to work on moving everything out of boxes and in their respectful places. The last thing I hung was a picture of mine and my wife's wedding. I remember it like it was yesterday.
I was standing at the altar when she walked down the aisle. She was such a beautiful lady with long black hair, amber skin, deep brown eyes that shone in the sun, and an enchanting floor length wedding gown. She was really breathtaking, and took after her mother actually. She had shown me a picture once, the only thing is I didn't like her mother very much as she had run away with another guy. Leaving her dad to take care of her all by himself.
Her dad was a very nice guy after she died he would always come visit and we would talk, laugh, and drink together. Me and him are actually best friends nowadays. He even agreed with my decision to move. He was always supportive over my decisions and told me he thought of me as his son.
I decided to head out back to get a garden started and build a shed as that was the only thing I didn't have here. I would call someone to help but I like doing things on my own. And I bought a few acres of land so I should have plenty of room to build a lot more if I really wanted to.
Once I reached the place where I wanted to build the shed and garden, I noticed an old tree in the middle of the big clearing. No other tree was around it, so I decided to get a better look and walked over to the tree. It would be a nice place to build a treehouse for the books I had stacked away. After a while of inspecting the tree I noticed something unusual, there was a name engraved into it. It said my mom's name, Angelina Zander.
I smiled remembering the happiness my mom always brought to the dinner table every night. I really miss her, she and my wife were both on a mother daughter field trip. As I don't have any siblings, that was when they got into a car crash that killed both of them. I didn't have anything to remember my mom by, like I did my wife. I smiled happily that I had something that my mom had left behind even if it was just her name carved into a tree.
Now I can fully live without any regrets at all as my mother left behind one of the things that I cherish the most. I also know that once I die that is where I wanna be buried with the picture of my wedding day laying right beside me. Both my garden and shed build on both sides of the clearing a tree house right in the middle. Even If I die alone, I'll die happy with all the memories I have.
