The room has passed through darkness, entering a shadow cast inside oblivion. It exhales a blackened breath that harbours a boisterous energy, an energy that unnerves me some, and then more. My chamber is quiet, and as this malevolent force invades my space, the intense silence seems to grow thick like a heavy quilt I would dare not cover myself with. Filling my air canals with its toxic negativity I feel my gasps for oxygen have increased in tempo. I try to slide the top of my body up and away from my blankets but a great weight I feel is pressed down upon my body, holding me in place, keeping me hostage beneath the sheets and waiting. Surely it bides its time in the shadows to mock and tease me, vicariously watching its work fall into place. My eyes shift left to right, blinking frantically over two heavily dilated pupils, scurrying like the eyes of a frightened mouse hiding from a night stalker. They try to scan my surroundings but it is far too dark to fix in on anything and with a sense of dread they await the appearance of a haunting face, maybe a swaying figure or a wretched hand with nails like jagged claws, perhaps a menacing phantom or a beast who has risen from the depths of the underworld to posses me with its evil intent, rising to cripple me with a raw hate and vengeance for this world and its creator.

I wait, chained and hidden away with this horror, I wait for this evil to come and take me. But. Nothing appears from the shadows to terrify me, nothing enters my soul from my wide open eyes or whips my skin with weapons fashioned in the armouries of hell.

I am not alone though, this I know for sure. I am not crazy. My sanity sits healthy upon me. Oh something is in here alright, its presence is strong and if to reassure me that it is with me tonight, it takes hold of the left-side curtain and draws it back, exposing a crescent moon burnt into the night sky.

Now for the first time, I see the fiend. A light cast of azure drowns the decorated sill and then flows into a deeper federal blue as it spills into the room a little further and it is here in this darker shade I notice it. The figure of a tall man holds a stance only feet away from my bed. He is not deformed or grotesque in anyway, well not from what I can see, but still my stomach churns.

Thirty seconds that feel like thirty years pass with him just standing there, staring at me from across the way. My thumping heart has made its way into my skull, beating on my temples in a style one can only describe as chaotic. I hear a voice trying to call out and reach me over the loud drumming. A small and frail voice indeed, but a voice nonetheless. "Get up" it says, "get up!" It makes the demand again, and then again once more. "You need to get up" it screams and I now realise that it is my voice I hear screaming, words in my tongue are being yelled at me from inside my own mind.

The fiend moves further into the area glowing from the outside moon, he knows of my thoughts, I am sure he has read them, and he is not happy. I see his lower end move, not like yours or mine, no legs march beneath this wretch's torso, only the darkness it filled the room with. His arms stretch out in my direction. The beast closes in. I try with all my might to move but my physical self cannot break free from this awful bond. The voice inside my head is now the only thing capable of movement and it screams like a banshee sobbing of death and now I begin to fear that maybe this is her chilling wail, my own frantic tones used against me acting as the bitch's twisted aid, her devilish vice.

Both inside and out I am rendered powerless. I want not, but succumb I feel I must.

The beast is now on top of me, no light from the half opened curtain can be seen, I close my eyes and except my faith...

End.
