??? POV

The weight of terror was crashing down upon my shoulders. I couldn't keep up like this. Not anymore. I got up slowly. Blood poured from my side. I dragged my feet across the pavement then started to run. I could hear the voices of his men scream,

"Don't let her escape!"

All I did was run on, the gem in my hands. Gunshots rang in my ears and I swerved into an alleyway. A wall blocked me, but that never stopped me. As soon as the soldiers came into view, I reached out with my mind and made them stop in their tracks. I flicked my finger and the dropped their weapons. I made a motion as though I were tossing something to my left and they crashed into the wall.

I started to run past them and out the alley way when a tall figure stopped me. It was dressed in all black and loomed over me like a huge shadow.

"Poor child," he said. "Did you actually think you could get away whith this?"

"Yes." I replied.

"Your only five! Well that doesn't matter. I'll kill you just the same."

He morphed into a huge black lion and let out a twisted roar. "This will be fun." He said.

I gathered my strength an jumped as high as I could up into the passage of the narrow alleyway. My hands and feet shot out and I climbed upwards like a spider. He snarled with fury and turned into a dragon. He grabbed the sides of the building and started towards me. I let out a shriek of fear as he spat acid towards my hands. I climbed faster, desperately trying to reach my freedom.

At the top of the building was a large, gray ship. It was the one that would take me away from this horrid planet.

"Sam!" I screamed. "Help me!"

A tall, black haired boy reached down and helped me onto the top of the platform. "The man, h-he's coming." I cried. The dragon screeched as it reached the top of the building.

"Get us out of here!" Sam shouted to the pilot.

The ship started upwards, hovering at first, then shooting away. The black dragon followed us, gaining at first, then falling away far into the distance. I collapsed into Sam's arms, crying.

"Why couldn't my mommy come with?" I whined.

"There wasn't enough room. Crystal I'm really sorry." Sam said quietly.

"I got the gem."

Out of my pocket I lifted a glowing, silver-red gem with a large crack down the middle.

"The most powerful gem in the world." He breathed.

I'd gotten it. Now we would win. Now we would be free.
