Connor's POV
~~~~~~~~~~~~ nine years later ~~~~~~~~~~~~
I could feel the heat of his anger as he knocked me down. I hit the cement hard, the rough surface scraping my skin. A shoe hit my side. Then another.
"Had enough yet?" The boy asked.
I answered with silence, not ready to give in. Punches were thrown, hitting my face. I moaned. The blood, warm and red, dripped from my face leaving stains of paint behind it. I attempted to stand, but was shoved again. I looked up at the face of my tormenter and saw real malice. I couldn't take any of this. I needed to make it stop. Slowly, I reached into my shirt and felt the cold crystal in the palm of my hand. I imagined what I needed to happen and felt my teeth grow. I pulled myself over the boy and said,
"I can't bring myself to give up, so I'd rather fight."
He smirked. I knew he wasn't ready, so I sprang forward and grabbed his legs. He yelped in surprise and I sank my fangs into his flesh. I felt warm blood seep into my mouth. A memory entered my mind and stole away all forms of consciousness from me. I couldn't fight it, I didn't have time. I closed my eyes. I was finished.
I was awakened by a slap in the face. My face stung like fire and I let out a gasp. A snarly voice screeched in my ear.
"Wake up boy! Come on I don't have all day!"
I jerked upward and saw the face of the principal. So he blamed me again. I thought. I touched my nose and felt dry blood stuck there. I was in the office again because that one boy just had some random thing against me.
"So why'd you fight him?" The principal growled.
"It wasn't me!" I pleaded. "He was beating me up and I couldn't stop it!"
"I saw that gash you gave him on his leg, I'm keeping you suspended from school until futher notice!"
With that said, my father entered the room and dragged me outside. I pulled my into the car and we drove off. I sat there in silent fury. How dare he blame me again! That wasn't fair! Besides, he always gets his way, and what have I ever done to hurt him!
When we arrived home I was sent to my room. Crystal was there when I entered. I flopped down on my bed and moaned.
"Ugh this isn't fair, he always gets away with everything." I growled.
"Well I don't think the odds were good for you anyway." Crystal replied.
"Are you saying I'm weak?!" I shouted.
"Maaayybe."
I leaped off the bed and landed on top of her.
"Ack! Get off!" She screeched.
I slid to the floor next to her and lay there, thinking. I wished I could show her, but I still felt unsure.
"Crystal...there's something I haven't told you about." I said.
"I know."
