After school hours were the best. All you really did after hours was hang around outside until you felt like leaving the school premises, but on this particular day, you wanted to do something a little different. You decided that today was going to be the day you would go check out some of the school's clubs, since you weren't in any just yet. It's not like you didn't like to do extra activities, it's just that you used to not have time to. Ever since that one kid you were babysitting turned eleven, you've been left with absolutely nothing productive to do in your free time. So a club would be the perfect thing to fill that empty space.
Walking up the stairs to the third floor, you thought about all the clubs you could possibly join. The Science Club was probably something you wouldn't want to get associated with, especially since science was already one of your weaker subjects. Cooking seemed fun, as well as drama, since they were both things you could actually pull off quite well. But you didn't want to make a final decision just yet. There were still more clubs to check out.
You walked through the hallway, looking at the signs above each room. You noticed a new one in the mix of old clubrooms and classrooms: the Gaming Club. The writing covered up another sign, which was probably what the room used to be for. There were a few other clubs on the floor, like the Martial Arts Club, but this one interested you. So, you decided to head into the Gaming Club first, to see exactly what they had to offer you.
Opening the door to the clubroom rather slowly, you walked inside, and were immediately greeted by who you immediately assumed was the club president. Junri Takahashi. She was known for being over-the-top weird with her style, and was one of Minato Takahashi's friends. Some thought the two were related, but in the end, it turned out that the pair were just close friends that happened to have the same surname.
Her pink hair seemed to stick out everywhere else, but not in the gaming club, with its machines and computers. The room just seemed perfect for her aesthetic. You knew Junri had a reputation for being extremely talented when it came to coding, but you didn't know that she was good with video games too. So you were caught off guard by her greeting- no, her presence in general.
That and the fact that you had a giant crush on the girl.
You never wanted to admit it to any of your friends, since they all thought Junri had a screw loose. All she had was a bit of uniqueness to her. Her space aesthetic was what first got your attention, anyway. People called her weird for having those giant paper horns, but you thought they were pretty cool. Not that you'd ever tell anyone about that, though.
"[Y/N]~! Hiya! What brings you here, hm-? Up for a game?" She chimed, her bright pink eyes filled with stars as she gazed at you with excitement. The club had a few people in it; the other members had probably headed home for the day already, leaving Junri as one of the only members left in the building today. "Oh- No, I'm just checking the place out. I need... to join a club anyways-" You chuckled, but found yourself fumbling to get the right words out of your mouth. Was her presence enough to get you the slightest bit flustered? You didn't seem to know if that was true, or if it was, why you felt that way. You could feel your heart beginning to beat a little faster; the longer she gazed at you, the more embarrassed you felt.
"Oh? You're considering joining?"
She broke the silence, taking a step backwards with a gigantic smile on her face. She seemed to always wear a smile when she wasn't doing anything serious. Another thing that you found yourself constantly focusing on whenever you could. Gee, you're a simp. All you could do in response to her question was nod slightly, before actually finding the words to use.
"Yeah, I saw the sign and thought it'd be interesting." You said, smiling sheepishly and wishing you hadn't been doing exactly that. This was getting to be so embarrassing, and for what reason-? All you've been doing was saying words and getting stared at, so why did your stomach feel like there were a bunch of butterflies flapping about in it?
The girl in front of you clapped her hands together in what was probably delight, finally ceasing to gaze at your face. "Really-? That'd be great; I'd love having more people here after school, y'know." She beamed, looking as though she had won the lottery. "Then again, I can't tour you today- I have to go rollerblading with Minato again, hah-"
You quickly shook your head, ready to object to any mention of touring. Honestly, you looked really stupid, but could you blame yourself at this point? "Oh- That's fine, really- I'm sure I'll figure it out myself-" You began to insist, but she quickly put a finger up against your bottom lip, in a small attempt to shut you up for a minute. You could feel your face melting, getting warmer and turning almost as red as a tomato in mere seconds as she began to speak again.
"No, it's not fine! I can't leave a possible future club member alone, y'know." She began to chuckle, patting you on the head really quickly before stepping back again, like she had been respecting your boundaries the entire time.
"I'll just tour you tomorrow, okay? Is that good?"
You nodded yet again; you didn't think a tour was all that necessary. But then again, it was an opportunity to spend more time with Junri, and you'd take that over any other plans on any damn day. It was just a room, it wasn't like you couldn't just glance at everything and know what it was. But having someone show you instead, especially if it was Junri, felt nicer.
"Great!" The pink-headed one clapped her hands again, beginning to push you towards the clubroom exit. "Can't wait for tomorrow~! Now, I need to close up and catch up with Minato, mkay?
I'll see ya later, [Y/N]!"
