Red skies and panicked cries.

Sirens rang throughout the streets, the sky red as a rose in bloom. I ran through the panicking crowds, heading for an apartment complex with tan brick walls and shiny pipes. I saw my best friend apart of the group of people running out of the building, I shouted to him. "HEY! BESTIE!" His expression was scared but when he heard my voice he turned and a small smile reached his face. He ran out of the mob and towards me, taking a look towards the skies. "Hey. Guess this is the final stand, isn't it?" He asked, looking at me with a solemn face. "Guess so. Wanna watch the sunset with me one last time?" I asked, grabbing his hand and smiling. He smiled back. "Lead the way, friend."

The walk to our favourite spot near the shore was short, and the sirens had stopped in defeat. I sat down with my friend, still holding his smooth cold hand. He took a seat on the sandy grass and looked at the sky. It was beautiful, but terrifying, I was scared for what would happen next, but I was ready. "It's..Strange, isn't it? For how long we knew that we would eventually die..But did you ever think this would be the way our hearts would stop beating?" He questioned, whispering. I kept looking at the sky, and answered a short " No. " It was silent.

"Hey...Friend? " I hummed, answering him. "I..Know this is probably a bad time, but I thought I would have more time to say this. I...Love you. " I took my gaze from the skies to look at him. He  grabbed my hand with both of his, making eye contact. His eyes were full of pure love. "I have loved you since I first talked to you. When your eyes lit up when you heard we had the same interests, when you smiled when I asked to be friends. I will never forget about that moment."

He leaned closer to me while I stared at him. "Will you be my girlfriend in these final moments?" He asked. I looked at him and blushed. "Yes, I will. I have loved you for the same amount of time. And I will continue to love you till the end of time." I smiled. He leaned even closer, our noses nearly touching. "So will I." He lightly put his lips against mine, and I melted in the moment. We split, and put our arms over each other's shoulders. We stared at the sun, it getting brighter by the second. "I love you." I whispered to him, leaning my head on his shoulder as it got hotter every moment. "Goodbye, love." He whispered while the heat increased to burning temperatures. I closed my eyes as I felt myself turn to ashes. One final thought in my mind was about how much I loved him.
