"So, now that I've shown you how the security system works, are you feeling confident?"
"Well, it's gonna take some getting used to," you admitted. "But I think I'll manage."
Michael nodded, pleased with the answer. "Good good. Anyways, I think perhaps you should sit situated in here for today. I know we told you you're supposed to be in the other office, but-"
"I understand."
There was a light tap on the entrance wall to the room and the tired man from earlier poked his head in.
"Hey, Mike, Toby needs your help with something. Didn't say what, but he looked anxious."
Michael groaned and got up. "Probably broke some merchandise again…" Michael looked back at you. "Think you'll be fine, [Y/N]?"
You gave Michael a thumbs up. "Yeah, I think I got it."
You watched as he left the room, then slid the wall entrance closed behind him, then you turned back around to focus on your work.
Admittedly, as outdated and weird as the security system was, it wasn't too bad. You were already starting to kinda get used to it, and figured you'd be fully used to how it was set up by the end of the week.
If anything, the thing that might take some getting used to was sitting on your ass and flipping through cameras. Sure, Michael had told you you'd occasionally have to go out on the floor, but he'd made it sound like it wouldn't be something you'd have to do often.
God, I hope not, you thought to yourself as you flipped through the cameras. You paused as you observed some kids trying to draw something on one of the walls in the main party room, only to be stopped by someone you assumed to be one of their parents.
Man, I wonder if the "Carlton smells like feet" thing is still on the wall…
You snickered as you remembered that out of the blue. You hadn't come here as a kid, you hadn't even lived here up until you were a teen, and at that point, your family basically considered you to be too old for places like this. Not that you could blame them… Freddy's was neat, but it was definitely something geared more towards younger kids… Or people who really loved those cheesy 80s pizza places with robots.
The only reason you'd known about the writing on the wall had been one of your friends talking to you about it while you'd been over at their place. They had pulled out an older photo of them and shown it to you.
Almost enough to make me wish I did come here as a kid, not gonna lie…
At this point, you were now absentmindedly flipping through the camera, not really paying attention to what was on the screen, or even really thinking about what you were supposed to be doing, meaning you didn't see the man sneak backstage and over to the entrance of the room you were in.
Your thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a thunk and someone mumbling curses under their breath. You spun around in your office chair to see who'd entered the room.
"Bloody hell, I keep forgetting how low those ceilings are…" he mumbled to himself, rubbing his head.
"Uh… Can I help you?"
The man did a startled little jolt, yet again hitting his head on the ceiling.
"Oh BLOODY-"
Don't laugh, [Y/N]... Don't laugh…
The man rubbed his head and looked at you, seeming confused, as well as a bit startled, to see you sitting there.
"Who are you?" He asked.
"I'm [Y/N]. I just got hired-"
"... Oh! [Y/N]! I uh, remember hearing of you. You're the new lad hired for daytime security, yes?"
You nodded. The man extended his hand to you, still rubbing his forehead with the other.
"I'm William David Afton. Co-owner of this establishment. A pleasure to meet you."
You took his hand and firmly shook it, as you'd been taught to do. As you briefly glanced down at his hand before meeting his eyes, you couldn't help but notice how perfectly his nails were trimmed.
Oh no, we're being weird again…
"It's nice to meet you too, Mr. Afton." You said, doing your best to keep your voice firm and make eye contact. Though all that did was make you two shake hands for an awkwardly long time, as well as give you a nice look at his unusually colored eyes.
After the awkward handshake, you looked back down from them, there was a brief moment of silence in the room before he spoke again.
"I don't mean to pester you while you're getting used to the job, but have you seen… oh bloody hell, there's a chance you don't even know who he is-" he sighed.
"If it's Hen- Mr. Emily, he's in his office."
"Ah no, not quite who I'm looking for. I'm looking for a young man named Michael."
"Oh, Michael was the one to show me around. He left just a bit ago to help someone named Toby?" You answered, a bit uncertainly.
Or was it Tony….?
"Oh bloody hell… Probably did something stupid again." He muttered. "Well thank you. Again, I do apologize for interrupting your work, however, it was a pleasure to meet you, despite our brief introduction."
You nodded. "Likewise."
And just like that, the man nodded and left the room, leaving you all alone again. You turned back to your work and just stared at the cameras for a few moments.
So now you'd met your other boss.
Admittedly, you were a bit surprised by the mannerisms for both your bosses. They seemed like complete opposites in personality, with Henry being the more laid-back and awkward but cordial one and William being the polite and well-spoken one…
You were hoping that William was as nice as he looked, or at least as nice as how Henry seemed to come off.
Don't get your hopes up, [Y/N]. One friendly boss is a rare find. Two of them would be like winning a lottery, but a bit less fun, cause if you'd won the lottery, you wouldn't have to worry about how nice your boss is to you.
You sighed to yourself and changed the camera. You could still at least hope, though. You figured it would be good to practice some positive thinking from time to time… Well, more like that was something your therapist had told you on more than one occasion.
When is my next appointment anyways? Gotta make sure I'm not accidentally scheduled when that's supposed to happen…
Which reminded you, you should have asked Michael how you'd be informed of your schedule.
Oh well… I can just try and ask Henry during my break or after shift.
How much longer did you have, anyways?
You pulled out your phone and looked at it with a sigh. Perhaps you'd been out of work for far too long. You were already so impatient and, at this point, you'd only been at work for roughly two and a half hours.
Time seemed to be going by quick, but definitely not quick enough.
Five and a half hours to go… If this were a nightshift job, I could probably get away with sleeping on the job… Oh well… Might as well buckle up for a bunch of long and boring shifts… Gonna have to get used to it, after all…
