It was all very tense and dramatic. You had just fled from the school grounds after the confrontations with Henry and your stepfather; the former you had beaten up and the latter you threatened the life of. Madeleine took off after you as students began to gossip as they would usually do when there is something worth talking about.
As for Henry, your stepfather approached and sat him up. "Wow, he really did a number on you" the man commented as Henry groaned in pain before your stepfather made a proposition to him. "You know, this could amount to GBH if not ABH? We could probably get him sent down for a long time for this, especially with him threatening my life, not to mention his probation" the snake of a man that was your stepfather smirked.
"H-he, he said you were the one to hurt his mother, that you held a knife to her throat" Henry said as he looked at your stepfather. "Is that true?" He asked and the man before him nodded. "Yes, she was becoming a nuisance so I thought a little intimidation would put her in place, things got out of hand and I had the bitch lie so I wouldn't be the one in trouble, the police would believe anything if it makes their job easier, besides, Y/n was caught attacking me" your stepfather admitted. He was so cavalier with his words also, disgustingly so.
"Now about that little proposition, I know I'll report the threat against me but what about you?" He asked, changing the topic to his own confession. But Henry remained quiet for a moment, taking in the information of the shocking revelation he just received.
As for you and Madeleine, the chase went on for some time and Madeleine lost you at some point. She searched and searched for you, calling for you as the situation needed discussing. The severity couldn't be ignored.
So Madeleine searched around for you, never giving up, even as it started to get late. Just how long did she search for you? Does that not show just how much she cares? Eventually it was getting too late and Madeleine was prepared to give up the search and head home; this was the point you actually showed yourself to her. It was by complete accident of course as you bumped into her, you were about to make your own way home and bumped into Madeleine.
"Y/n, where have you been? I've been searching for hours" she inquired as you simply looked at her before asking; "why?" She was surprised to hear such a question but still you asked it, questioning why Madeleine searched for so long. "You saw what I did, I'm pretty much fucked now as no doubt the two of them would have gone to the police, I mean I beat up Henry and threatened to kill that snake married to my mother!" You began panicking as Madeleine attempted to calm you down.
But she was failing.
"I already have my record, the police won't need much to lock me up, especially with all the witnesses, I mean they didn't do much inquiring about the truth of that night in the first place but why would they? They literally caught me beating up my stepfather in a drug smelling house and both my mother and stepfather lied about it, I'm fucked!" You panicked but Madeleine told you that it was going to be alright.
However, her optimism wasn't working this time, you were too pessimistic on the matter. "Madeleine, my stepfather lied to the police to get me a record, I threatened his life in front of how many people? He will have Henry to back him up never mind all the other students, my own mother lied to protect her supply of drugs for fuck sake! I-I have nobody" you said with a sorrowful expression before looking down.
You felt like you had no options until Madeleine spoke again. "What are you talking about? You have me!" She said as she stepped closer to you, turning you to look at her as she said you had her on your side; "I thought we established this, you're not alone through this, I'm here, I'll tell the truth and that'll spark something" she spoke confidently and you asked how she could be so sure.
Madeleine simply smiled encouragingly. "All it takes is one person to speak the truth, I'll do so, I'll vouch for you and tell the police that you were being provoked, if we're lucky then others will tell the truth" she encouraged but you pointed out that it would be down to luck. "What if nobody else takes my side?" You asked but Madeleine said that you would deal with that should you have to, for now she said you could stay with her for the night and the two of you could go down to the station together the next day.
You were hesitant to such a plan though. Not for the selfish reason of not wanting to turn yourself in but because you didn't want to incriminate Madeline for hiding you for the night. You told her this but she refused to leave your side; "I'm going to stick with you through this, Y/n, I'm not leaving you alone when you need me the most" Madeleine smiled gently and all you could do was hug her tight.
You held her, trembling as you did so. She returned the hug as she heard you choke out a thank you; "you're the only friend I have, I wouldn't have made it this far without you" you said as Madeleine stepped back. "We'll do this together" she said and you nodded before the two of you went to her house, she lived alone so she didn't have to worry about her parents coming back.
You set yourself up in the spare bedroom that Madeleine had, moving some things about seeing that the room was also used to store some things seeing she lived alone. It was comfortable though, good enough for a decent night sleep so you could be prepared for the next day. It really was a matter of utmost severity, depending on what happens you could go to prison for a very long time. But there was hoping that maybe, just maybe, everything would turn out well in the end.
With Madeleine on side, you did have some confidence (albeit not much) that everything would be alright in the end. So you said goodnight to Madeleine before the two of you headed to bed.
The next day, it was going to be a long one.
