***I am not copying Rick Riordan, I have just decided to write my own story about demi-gods.***

My name is Sophie Mallik and, up until a few months ago, I would have considered myself normal. I have normal wavy blond, shoulder length hair, I am of normal height for a eleven year old girl and have normal olive coloured skin. The only thing that is abnormal about my appearence is my eyes. They are the most interesting grey. I'm also really into architecture. See, I'm your averege, normal, eleven year old girl, right. Wrong. A few months ago strange things started happening. Monsters started to find me, things that I thought didn't exist. I guess I should start my story at the beginning, about three months ago, when my whole life was tipped upside-down.

It was the last day of school and I had almost made through the year without getting anything lower than a B. My dad, Jackson Mallik, was very proud of me. I was a smart girl and he wanted it to stay that way. He also thought that this achievement was a sign of my dyslexia getting better. Trust me, it wasn't.

"Sophie!" yelled Dad from the other side of our two-bedroomed apartment, ' Time to get ready for school!"

'Do I have to?" I screamed back.

"Yes!! You have your final tests today and I expect good results!"

"Uuuggghhh" I moaned as I struggled out of bed and put on my blue and red school uniform. My school was all about achievement, punctuality and uniforms.

"Come on Sophie, you don't want to be late do you?"

" I'm coming dad!" I replied as I finished brushing my hair and ran down the stairs. I grabbed a piece of toast off the table and ran out the door.

"Bye, sweetie!" said dad," Zoe and Jack said they would meet you at the bus stop."

"Bye dad! See you tonight!"

Little did I know that I would not be seeing my dad for a long time.

As soon as I arrived at the bus stop it started raining.

"Oh, great;" I said to myself. The only thing I hadn't packed was an umbrella.I sat down in the bus shelter and watched the cars go by. A few minutes later I spotted two figures emerging out of the fog. At first I couldn't make out who they were but seconds later I knew they had to be Zoe and Jack.

Zoe and Jack are my best friends. Like me, they only started at Elenora Elementary School this year. Zoe was a tall, skinny girl with brown hair and emerald green eyes. Like me she had dyslexia and ADHD. Unlike me, she was an amazing swimmer. She could hold her breath for upto eight minutes, underwater!

Jack is of average hieght and has red hair and chocolate brown eyes. He loves food, especially burritos, and he uses crutches. I think he has a knee injury. He also has a note allowing him to miss P.E for the rest of his life.

'Hi Soph!" said Zoe cheerfully. Zoe always looks on the bright side even when it is raining. I think she just loves water.

"What a miserable day." added Jack.

"Hi guys," I replied,

" Are you excited about the tests?" asked Zoe. I tried to answer but she continued talking. " I'm only sort of excited. I know I'm going to fail but I can't wait until the history test. Ms Smith is testing us on greek mythology and she's going to organize an after-test party!"

"Whoa! Zoe, calm down! How do you know all this? Ms Smith hasn't even told us what the test topic is!"

" I accidently overherd Ms Smith talking to Ms Jones about our test."

" Zoe-" I started. Then I realized that something was wrong. Jack hadn't said anything.

" Jack??? Is some thing worng?" I asked cauiously.

" Something is going to go wrong today," he whispered, " I can feel it."

"Don't worry Jack," interruped Zoe, " You'll pass everything."

Just then the bus pulled up infront of us and the doors opened.

"Hi Ms Sarah" said Zoe happily. Then she stopped. This lady wasn't Ms Sarah.

" Get on, we're running late" barked the old lady.

Jack gulped and we got on the bus.

As we headed towards the back of the bus we noticed that is was very empty. The only people on the bus were two old ladies sitting side-by-side at the front of the bus.

"This is bad, very bad" muttered Jack.

" Don't worry" replied Zoe, " We'll get to school on time.
