mother tohru X child reader

chapter 1

one night I was sitting alone in a dark alley way holding my legs to my chest I was covered in dirt and the only clothes I had were a pair of pajama pants and a long sleeve shirt. I was sad because my parents left me here and I was all alone.

tohru was walking back from the market after buying ingredients for tonights dinner. since kanna was staying with saikawa for the night and Kobayashi was working late which meant she had the apartment to herself. while she was walking to the apartment she noticed Y/N sitting alone and a thought came to her head.

tohru:(why is a small human child by themself in an alley? doesn't he have a family to go home to?)

she then approached him but he didn't noticed as she placed the bags down and she crouched down to his level and she poked his head which got his attention.

tohru: hi there. im tohru

Y/N: h-h-hi

tohru: why are you out here all alone where are your parents?

Y/N: m-my parents left me here 

tohru:( why would his parents leave him here all by himself?  I believe Kobayashi said kids like him are called orphans. wait if I can prove to Kobayashi that I can take care of him then she'll love me.)

tohru: would you like to live with me?

Y/N: w-what?

tohru: would you like to live with me? I'll feed you and I'll clothe you.

Y/N: y-you won't leave me?

tohru: of course not. I'll take care of you and I'll love you forever.

she then picked him up in her arms and when he wasn't looking she sent the groceries home with her magic and she began walking to the apartment it was a long walk but her embrace didn't scare him in fact he loved it he snuggled into her chest as if it was a pillow. when they both got back to the apartment she didn't place him down even as she put away the groceries.

Tohru: oh I almost forgot what's your name?

Y/N: my n-name is Y-Y/N

Tohru: well Y/N im going to get dinner started. I want you to go wait in the living room for me. okay?

Y/N: *nods*

tohru then placed me on the floor which allowed me to walk to the living room and sit on the couch. tohru made a simple dinner of meat, veggies, and rice which the meat was her tail but Y/N didn't notice. once it started cooking she then went to the living room and picked up Y/N 

Tohru: first im going to clean you before you can eat so im going to set a bathtub and get you all cleaned up.

she then carried me to the bathroom and turned on the water to fill up the bathtub once she started it she then removed my clothes and placed them aside. once the tub was filled to a good amount she checked the water to make sure it was warm enough. she then placed me in the tub and I got used to it soaking my body.

tohru then applied shampoo and conditioner to my hair and started massaging it in. once she was done she got a cup and filled it with water and she then tilted my head back and poured it onto my hair and she did this until there was no shampoo and conditioner left.

then she began washing my body with body wash and once she washed off all the body wash and once she was finished she took me out the tub and pulled the plug draining the water. she then grabbed a towel and dried me off and when she was finished she took me to the living room with the towel wrapped around me.

tohru: wait here. I'll be right back

she then went into the bathroom leaving me standing there with only a towel. a few moments later she then came back out with my previous clothes all cleaned. she then helped put my clothes back on. she then went to check on the food. I was sitting on the couch when tohru presented dinner to me. I then took the plate and started to dig in.

Y/N: thank you.

tohru: your welcome. do you like it?

Y/N: yes it's very delicious 

tohru: well im glad you like it.

then the front door opened revealing a tired woman 

Kobayashi: im home

tohru: welcome back Kobayashi.

kobayashi: anything happen today?

tohru: yes. I found a child and I brought him back

Kobayashi: oh that's nice. wait what?

tohru: yes he said his parents left him alone and so I decided to bring him here

Kobayashi: aww that's sweet that you brought him home but are you sure you can take care of a human child.

tohru: don't worry I'll take very good care of him. he's a good kid. and besides you'll see that I can take care of him and you'll have to love me.

Kobayashi: alright.

Kobayashi then went to her room to change and I was already finished eating and I went to the kitchen.

Y/N: tohru im finished

tohru: good boy you finished all your food.

Y/N: um tohru can I ask you something?

tohru: of course what is it?

Y/N: um c-can I c-call you mommy?

tohru then gave me a kiss on my nose

tohru: of course you can. your so cute.

later that night tohru and Kobayashi were getting ready to go to sleep and I was standing there hugging a pillow and tohru picked me up

tohru: come on little one. your sleeping with us tonight.

she then laid me on the bed and she got in bed with me and cuddled me as she put a warm blanket over us. Kobayashi was already asleep so it was just me and tohru still awake. tohru then gave me a goodnight kiss

tohru: sweet dreams Y/N I love you

Y/N: good night I love you too mommy.
