I woke to the sound of a B-52 aircraft over. The Day was the eighth of June, 2005. The war was nutrual in our area. I always imagened being a Navy SEAL as a kid. I was wrong. This is the most scary, bloody, violent thing the mind can comprehend. It was five o'clock in the morning. "Ok men its time to hed out. We will go north into the desert. I can't promise any of us surviving this mission so men, I solute you!"
"Sergeant Dan!" Colonel yelled, "I need you to go with these 5 men into the heart of the base. There you will plant the bombs, and get the hell out" Colonel demanded. Only one thing I could say now, " Sir, yes sir!"
five-thirty me and the other 5 men were heading out east, ready for our lifes to be taken by a random artillery.
Captain Johnston gave us our orders, "Ok, we are fourteen miles away from the enemy base, I expect us to be there at the outer wall in five hours. Ok lets move!" And that was that. we were closing in on the base. I was armed with a M4A1 Assault rifle, .50 calliber Desert Eagle, 3 frag grenades, and one of 7 bombs.
It was now seven-thirty, we were only six miles away and closing. A few times we saw enemy tanks patroling around the area. They had no clue on what was about to go down. "Ok we are six miles away from the base, now, there is estimated 140 men in that base, but we can do this men, never loose fate!" Captain Johnston was inspiring to us. He is a 23 year Exprienced SEAL.
4 miles away and its eight o'clock. We have seen 5 tanks, and 10 men. We were stealth. We were trained exactly for this. Our sniper detected enemy activity over a mile away. Four men stood with AK-47s in their arms. One by one they fell, he was a top shot of the Navy SEALs.
two miles away and we can see the wall. "Ok, we need three men to take North and three men to take South" Captain whispered. I was stuck with south side. we were in half a mile. the wall was 30 feet tall. We went in south. BANG BANG BANG! Corporal Jamie took out 2 taliban soldiers. Others heard the shot.
Then 5 more men came. We went and ran behind a corner. There I laid a C4. They came squirming around the corner. BAM! the C4 got all 5. Blood flew ever where. I was splashed with a little. I dabbed it on my finger and looked at it. I'm the murderer of 5 men. I felt horrible. But no time for that, we had to move on.
We went down the stairs and into an under cavern. There we exchaned fire with 20 more Taliban men. None of us were hit. Then I felt it. I looked down at my leg. I was bloody red. Then a jolt of pain went up me and I hit the floor. Jamie came over. "Dan! Dan! are you alright!" He yelled. "Yes! Just stop the bleeding and cover it quick!" I yelled. We were still in fire. I heard the sound of a grenade go off. The tunnel went silent. The Taliban were down. Now was our chance.
"Ok your wrapped can you walk?" Jamie asked. "Yeah now lets move in, it's now or never" I commanded. I sped walked, well spead limped. We came to the place where the map showed us to plant the bomb. I placed mine where it was said. We came to the over 3 men, they were ready to get out.
We ran. detination time was in 20 minutes. "Fuck, I'm hit!" Dawson yelled. We all got down and unloaded down the tunnel. Silence approached after 10 minutes. We grabbed Dawson and ran out. 7 minutes were left. We ran right out of the base. We had bullets hot on our ass. There was 3 minutes till detination.
We caught up to a truck waiting for us. We were on the military jeep. 3...2..1. BAM BAM BAM BAM! We were about a third of a mile away. the eexplosion sounded like guns going off in our ears.
"Men, you were brave today. We succeded in our mission. We have a tragic loss tho, Staff Sergeant Jamie Teller was shot in the chest and died minutes later. We are deporting his body back to the U.S. for a proper burrial. I expect all of you to be there. Here is our plane now lets go men burrial starts tomorrow at seven in the morning.
Today was a horrible day, I'm thankful for not having to slit any necks. I now declare this day: The Day The Wall Fell.
