Chapter One
In the country, there are plenty of places to go to be alone. I was one of those girls who prefered to be alone. I would put headphones in my ears and listen to music while walking silently to back of my property, where the river was. Today was just another ordinary day. I was wearing a long-sleeved overthrow sweater, skinny jeans, and boots perfect for fall. Leaves fell from nearby oak trees and the path was clear. Sheep grazed in lushous green fields and deer would naw next to them. Rabbits hopped cheerfully through the meadows and would scurry away quickly as I approached. The river was even more beautiful than the property. Wild flowers grew along the banks of the river and the water was as clear as the sky on a cloudless day. The land along the edge on the river was made of skipping stones. A log lay horizontal to the river, several astrew sticks behind it by the old willow tree. I didn't know much about curses, besides the fact that they didn't exist, but I was wrong and surprised to meet a very good looking boy staring directly at me. When I noticed him staring, he smiled walked up to me, and thrust his hand in my face. I took the headphones out of my ears, slowly and then shook his hand. "Malory, I have very bad news to discuss with you."(He had a sexy British accent by the way) My response was, "How the hell did you get on my property, better yet, who the hell are you?!" He lifted his eyebrows slightly and frowned, "You don't remember?" I was bewildered, "Remeber what?" "The storm and the flooded floor, and Dean dying?".. He sighed and sat down on the log horizontal to the river and just continued to stare blankly in the water. By now you can imagine how confused and frustrated I was. Some dude comes onto my property scares the living jesus outta me and is staring blankly into MY river. Yeah, kind of creepy. But the creepiest thing of all is what he did next: He smiled, looked up at me and whispered. "The Curse." His smile was the melancholy kind and it was bitter sweet. His eyes were sincere and completely motivated by love and only then did I realize. I was blushing.
