As soon as I put my timecard in its folder, I bolted out of the tiny cafe. It smelled of baked goods and coffee, but I didn't want to be in there any longer than I had to.

Working extra hours and barely scraping by in New York was taking a toll on me. I was previously associated with shield and followed almost everyone there in hopes of becoming an agent. I later quit about a year ago due to finding out that the organization isn't all that it seems.

As I was walking down the dimly lit path to my apartment, I heard a cry for help. I usually ignore things like this as it draws attention to my back, and the city already had spiderman and other vigilantes hoping to get recognition.

I waited for a minute tilting my head up toward the sky. The screams haven't ceased and there wasn't any sign of the masked hero.

I closed my eyes and concentrated hard, I hadn't done this since I worked with Shield.

I slowly made my way into the alley, careful not to make my footsteps heard. There was a man standing over a bloody figure with wounds all over their body. The guy didn't look like he had too much muscle or anything I couldn't handle. Honestly, he looked like the person on the floor could take him down if they weren't so beat up.

I bent my knees and took a fighting stance. All it would take is one hit in the head, and I would successfully knock him out. I made a fist and threw a punch on the side of his face at eye level. He fell instantly to the ground like I knew he would.
Thankfully the person on the ground was too busy fighting death to notice a random invisible force save their life. Just to be sure, I ran out of the alley, turned myself visible again, and called 911.

I had an internal battle with myself whether I should stay outside and wait for emergency services, or go back to my apartment. If I waited I could make sure everything was ok, but then I know they would ask me questions and I wouldn't have the right answers.

I decided to go back to my cheap 1 bedroom apartment and pretend nothing happened. But unfortunately that's hard to do with a large organization like S.H.I.E.L.D watching your back every move.
