This is Me

I might not be the strongest person,

I might not be the smartest either,

I might not be the prettiest,

But at least I know where I belong.

I might not be sweet like that girl,

I might not be awesome like those guys,

I might just be me,

But I still know where I belong.

I might be the underdog,

I might be the scrawny kid on the bus,

I might even be, just the girl next door,

But I know where I belong

Can I ask you something?

Will you stand through the rain?

Will you be able to make it through the storm?

Can you do what I do every day?

Do you know where you belong?

Not in the crowd of the popular people,

Not with the people who think they’re better,

Not with the pretty girls,

No, that’s not me, that’s them.

Hiding behind make-up and popularity,

Hiding behind lies, so that they are noticed,

Are you just going to let that be you?

Let the truth stay hidden,

And only become you when you’re alone?

I know I’m not.

I want to be free.

I want to let my wings spread and be able to fly without the weight of their lies holding me down.

Let the rain fall,

I’ll stand through it.

Let the storm continue,

I’ll make it through.

Can I ask you one more thing?

Will you make it,

Can you hold on?
