Summer of 1987, a beautiful time for the band as the recordings of Appetite For Destruction were almost done. The guys had been very excited to release it, a constant feeling of anticipation and a strive for perfection. Alas, they had a good feeling. They all believed that this was going to be their chance of making it big. A wish to come true. Outside of the studio, most of the guys had their girlfriends or flings, except for Duff and Slash.

Duff looked at Slash in awe as he played his solo for Sweet Child O' Mine. He felt like a fly being attracted to the light inside a lightbulb. So much so that he hadn't noticed Axl was talking to him.

"Hey hey" Axl snapped his fingers in-front of the blondes eyes and with that Duff was brought back into reality. "What???" Duff sightly snaps trying to come off like he was listening the whole time. Axl rolls his eyes "It's your turn idiot", he let's out a sigh of disappointment. Duff plays it off with a slight chuckle "Oh yeah, right sorry", he walks swiftly into the booth to start recording along with Slash, all of a sudden his throat feels tight along with his heart. His entire being overcomes with nerves.

With shaky hands he put his bass' strap over his shoulder, he made sure the instrument was in tune before taking a deep breath and closing his eyes.
"Okay" he whispered to himself and let out a small sigh "I got this." He took a look at the tabs and then for a moment glanced at Slash who gave him an encouraging smile.

He began playing his part along with Slash to guide him but he could not focus one bit. Slash's smile put him in a trance, no matter how hard he tried his attention was fully turned to Slash. It was like only Slash existed, like they were the last people on earth and that no one else mattered at that moment but him. A few failed attempts and he asked to take five or no he didn't ask, he just announced it.
"I'm taking five" he said as he walked out of the studio to light a cigarette.

"Come on man what the fuck is wrong with you?? It's not like it's your first time playing bass, we've been over this virgin pussy phase. Come on get it together" he whispered to himself in annoyance but quickly shut up when he heard a familiar voice approach him.
