“Beings of pure seduction and lust, Vampires tend to feel cold to the touch and are able to pass through crowds without alerting their-” Akira stopped dead as he felt a hand fall upon his shoulder, “excuse me, sir?” A soft voice asked, causing Akira to jump. “I'm sorry, it's just that you left your cell phone over there and I was wondering if you forgot it” Akira looked at the man and smiled slightly. “I love that book, Grimoir of the dead Vol. 1” He said, looking at the book cover. Akira smiled a bit wider as he stopped in his tracks, “I love books like these...If only the creatures existed. Things would be much better” The stranger seemed to tense as he heard this and asked, “How would it be better?” Akira frowned as he looked at the tall pale stranger, feeling a pang of fear, “W-well...If we were to have these mythical creatures, then people would be able to understand each other even more than now” At this thought, Akira smiled. The stranger nodded and replied, “What if they did exist? What if you were talking to one right now” Akira looked at the man and cocked his head; This stranger had pale white skin, black eyes outlined with red and black hair. “Well....I would be a bit afraid at first, because I wouldn't know what the being would do...but if they were nice, I wouldn't mind.” The stranger scoffed and began to walk, “I'm Akira, but most just call me Aki for short” Akira called, making the stranger stop dead in his tracks. He turned and smiled, looking once again at the book, “My mother used to read me those...” He sighed, nostalgic to the memory. “Must have been nice to have a parent” Akira murmured. The stranger looked up, “what did you say?” He asked, his voice having an edge to it. Akira edged away from him, “Nothing...nothing at all” he hesitantly replied. The stranger began to walk to the door silently as Akira began to return the book. Just as he reached the the exit, Akira followed, “wait! I never got your name!” he called after the stranger. The stranger turned to face Akira, a head and a half taller than the boy, “My name is Kai...” He began to walk once more. “Nice meeting you, Kai.” Akira said warmly as he looked at his watch, a pang of fear soon began to form, “Oh damn...I'm late” he began to walk away, hearing Kai's voice, “Will I ever meet you again?” Akira smiled and replied, “Yes, you just seem so...different” Kai smiled, showing a pair of twin fangs. Akira missed the fangs and asked, “Why are you so different? Its strange...” Kai shrugged and replied, “I don't know...I've seen things?” Akira nodded and looked up at the waning sunlight, a bit of fear growing within. “I have to get home now...I'm sorry” He called over his shoulder as he ran home.
His home: a run down apartment complex. As he opened the door, he could see a large body on the ground, drunk. “I am back, Uncle. I'm sorry that I was late. I just—oof” Was all he got out before a fist collided with his stomach. Akira fell to the floor, gasping for air. The man looked down at the teenager and glared, “Get your shit and get out...now” Akira stared at the man, uncomprehending. “Get out now...” His Uncle said once more, grabbing Akira's arm and pulling him out of the apartment. Akira fell down the stairs and looked back up at the closed door. His throat tight, blocked by tears, he got up and began to look for a place to sleep. Finally he found himself near the library. Akira tried the doors, only to find them locked. Seeking shelter under a tree, he closed his eyes and slipped into a dreamless sleep.
“He smells so delicious...just one bite?” A detached voice asked, Snapping Akira's eyes open. He looked up to see two men smiling down at him. They had paper white skin and deep red eyes as Akira began to shake, “W-who are you?” The first Stranger chuckled and reached for Akira, “We are hungry, and we want your sweet sweet blood” Akira tried to move, only to find that he was paralyzed in fear. He looked up into the strangers' eyes and asked, “What are you?” The second Stranger laughed and replied, “A pair of bloodthirsty vampires....here for your blood” Akira tried to make a sound, only to find that he couldn't speak. He closed his eyes as The two vampires struck. He felt two large pangs in his neck before slipping out of consciousness. The feeling of being drained forcefully began to feel like pinpricks all over his body, only to have it quickly stop. He let out a soft moan as he hit the grassy ground with a soft thump. The blood still flowing, he once again felt himself slipping.
