“Where are we going Harry?” I begged and begged but he didn’t budge. He wouldn’t stop saying for me to “be patient” or “you’ll see”. The longer the drive took the more impatient I got. Finally we stopped. I looked out the window and saw we were parked in front of what looked like an abandoned building.
“Harry? What are we doing here?” I say, confused.
“Come one, just follow me.” He said as he got out of the car and guided me towards the ladder. He helped me climb so I wouldn’t injure my arm anymore.
“Are you sure we’re allowed to be up here?” I asked.
“Uh, I don’t know. I’m not really big on the whole ‘rules’ thing.” He said putting air quotes around rules.
As soon as we both are on the roof, he sits me down and tells me to look around. It was an amazing view. It was fantastic, actually. “I love this. It’s like you can see everything from here.” I say in amazement.
“I thought you’d like it. This is where I come to think or get my mind straight.” After awhile, Harry and I just watched the view. It was silent but I didn’t mind. We stay there for half an hour or so, then I realized I had to go home, we had school tomorrow.
“Harry, I think its time to go.” I say, tugging on his shirt. He nods and helps me down the ladder and to his car. I give Harry my address and he starts driving. After watching Harry drive for 10 minutes in the silence, we get to a house.
“This isn’t my house, Harry?” I say, knowing he probably knew.
“I know… it’s mine.” I look at him with a confused look on my face. “Doctor said someone needed to watch you as you took your medication and your mom’s not home for a week.” He explained. I didn’t really feel like arguing or getting into the details, so I nodded and asked where I was sleeping.
We walk inside the house, and he walks past a couple of doors, and opens one. “This is it. Hope you like it.” He says.
“Thanks, I’m pretty tired. So I’ll just go to sleep now.” I say, as I start to yawn.
*one hour later*
I was tossing and turning. I couldn’t stop. I had a nightmare. I thought the armed man came back for me. I was terrified and couldn’t go back to sleep. I hear a knock on the door and I nearly jump off my bed. Then I see Harry slowly opening the door and entering. I take a deep breath trying to calm my nerves. “Skylar? Is there something wrong?” he asked in a sleepy voice. “Sorry. I’m just really scared. I had a nightmare… but I’m fine, don’t worry.” I reply. I suddenly hear footsteps then it stops. Then I feel a warm body pressed against mine with big strong hands around me. I turn to him, “What are you doing, Harry?” I ask politely.
“You sounded a little scared, so I’m here to comfort you and watch you. Okay? Now go to sleep, Sky.” I just nodded and burrowed my head in his chest and did my best to fall asleep.
