Mr and Mrs Granger, of number 8, Heathgate, we're proud to say that they had raised two 'perfect'  little girls, thank you very much. They were the last people you'd expect to be involved with anything strange or mysterious, because they were just so ordinarily normal.

Mr Granger was a dentist at the local medical centre. He was thin and timid, with wispy brown hair, which was balding. Mrs Granger was also thin, but slightly shorter than her husband. She had a kind face, with circular glasses and bushy hair, which was brown. She was also a dentist that worked alongside her husband.

The Grangers had twin girls, Hermione and Y/N. They had bushy brown hair, fair skin and soft brown eyes. The only difference between them were Hermione's bucked front teeth, otherwise they were practically identical. They had a love for waffles, reading and freshly cut grass.

But, as always, there was a strange magic about them. Y/N could persuade anybody, just by looking them in the eyes, and Hermione could memorise anything. Whenever particularly strong emotions are felt between either of them, odd things happen, such as vases breaking, books falling off shelves, and objects magically shrinking.

Hermione and Y/N went to a very run-of-the-mill primary school, but they were easily the most intelligent there. The school was filled with blockheads, so it wasn't that difficult. Y/N and Hermione were bullied a bit by the other students, and they didn't have all that many friends. In fact, they only had each other, and the kind school librarian, Miss Cleverly. The twins would often take refuge in the library during break times, and always noticed that the library was spotless and perfectly organised. They always wondered how Miss Cleverly  had kept the library so neat and tidy, but it always slipped their minds the moment they stepped inside the never-ending sea of books.

But they were leaving that all behind to go to a new school. High School. It was called Henrietta Barnett School. (A/N - This is a real school) The two had passed the exam to get in with flying colours, and they were nervous, but excited at the same time.

The ten-year olds shared a bedroom on the 2nd floor. They had twin beds and a large bookshelf each. One wall was in the process of being painted by Y/N, and she claims its an Australian town by the name of Lorn, but Hermione doesn't see it. The large window faced into the front garden, where Mr Granger's flowers grew.

Out story starts on a sunny July morning. Y/N was nestled into her blankets, quite comfortable, when she was roughly shaken awake by her twin. "Mione-" Y/N groaned turning over. "Bug-" Hermione said in a tone obviously mocking Y/N's. Y/N smiled a bit. Although she refused to let Hermione see it, Y/N secretly liked the nickname 'Bug'. It's origin started when Y/N and Hermione were 4, and Y/N found a worm in the garden while their father was gardening. Y/N ushered Hermione closer and- WHAM! Slammed the worm into her face. She screamed and Y/N got a telling off by her father, but Y/N still smiled at the memory till this day.

Hermione was also 3 minutes older than Y/N, as she was so constantly reminded, and even though Y/N was ever so slightly taller than Hermione, (Hermione insisted that it was because Y/N just had more fluffy hair) Hermione loved to tease with this nickname.

"Whadoyowan?" Y/N said pulling the blankets over her head, upset that she had been woken. "Mum and Dad are making waffles!" The second Hermione had said 'waffles', Y/N shot out of bed, dressed rather sloppily, and shot down the stairs, tying her hair up as she went.

She made her way down the hall and into the kitchen, where the sweet smell of pancakes flooded her nose. She sat herself on the cushioned kitchen chair, and smiled at her mother, who was reading the morning paper, across from Y/N. "Morning Mum," Y/N said sweetly, just as Hermione walked in. "Good job Hermione, getting her awake before eight." Mrs Granger joked. Y/N smiled. "How long on the waffles Dad?" Hermione asked Mr Granger, reading Y/N's mind. "About 2 minutes 'Mione" He replied. "Wanna set the table for us Y/N?" He said turning around to face her. "Sure," She said.

Once Mr Granger had set the waffles down on the table, Y/N began eating immediately. "Any interesting dreams anyone?" Mrs Granger asked once Mr Granger had sat down. "Yes actually," Y/N said unexpectedly. Hermione opened her mouth to say something, but thought better of it. Y/N rarely had dreams, so this was quite a surprising turn of events. "This tall lady, with her hair pulled into a black bun came and knocked on the front door," Y/N said, the memory of her dream becoming ever stronger. "She was wearing these odd black robes, with a emerald green cloak on top." The whole family was listening with mild interest. "We let her in and she walked straight to the sitting room, and when we all sat she pulled a stick out of her robes, and she pointed it at the pictures on the mantelpiece, and she made them jump around and stuff." Hermione's jaw dropped at this point. "What?" Y/N questioned her. "And did she give us twin letters, with green ink and a big purple stamp on the back?" Hermione said, talking rather fast. "Yeah!" Y/N said, as it was indeed true.

Just as Y/N opened her mouth a rather smart knock came from the front door. The whole family froze. Y/N slowly rose and walked cautiously to the front door, Hermione following close behind.

As Y/N opened the front door, her jaw literally dropped. There was a tall woman with her hair pulled into a tight bun, wearing black robes and an emerald green cloak over the top of them. Hermione began to panic and was trying to pull Y/N away from the door, but Y/N was very suspicious of this lady. "Who are you?" She questioned her pointing a very accusing finger at her.

"I am Professor McGonagall, the transfiguration professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry." She said simply. "May I speak to your parents and yourselves some where away from prying ears?" Y/N nodded and led McGonagall into the small sitting room.

"Good Morning Mr and Mrs Granger, Miss Granger and Miss Granger." She said, while the family sat, she did not. "I am sure that you have no idea why I'm so strangely dressed, or why I'm even here today. Well that it because I am a witch, and so are your twin girls." McGonagall stated. "Prove it," Y/N said, instantly, more out of habit than anything. McGonagall pulled a thin stick out of her robes and pointed it at the mantelpiece. Instantly the pictures and candles started jumping around, and Y/N could not believe her eyes."So we are witches?" Y/N asked, looking around at Hermione. "Professor McGonagall?" Hermione said as the pictures stopped. "Yes Miss Granger?" She replied, sticking her wand back in her robes. "We, Y/N and I, had a dream about this exact thing happening." She said, rather timidly. "Ah, so it worked! I must say the ministry is getting quite good at these things!" The twins looked at each other, shocked."Ministry?" Y/N and Hermione said in unison. "Ah yes, let me explain."

And so she did. She explained about the Ministry of Magic, Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley, Ollivander's, Hogwarts, the magical community itself! What all seemed so strange to Y/N and Hermione an hour ago, was now perfectly clear.

Mr and Mrs Granger, although sceptical, were willing to try it out. It was all rather insane to them, but they had nothing better to do over the holidays, so it was worth a shot to just drive to London., and check it out.

Before she left, McGonagall gave each twin a letter, and a small key. She explained it was for 'Gringotts' which was a wizard bank. She said that there was enough in there to buy all school books and robes for both of them, plus an extra 10 galleons each, to buy books to research with before going to Hogwarts.

She wished them luck, and with a swish of her cloak left the sitting room and exited through the front door. Y/N and Hermione turned to their parents. "Can we go next Saturday?" Hermione said. "We'll go next Saturday, to see if all this is real, or if it's just some silly old prank." Mrs Granger said. The twins were absolutely ecstatic the rest of the week, and were counting down the days to see if this was all real.
