I turn off the ignition of my baby and take off my helmet. I brush my hair out of my face and climb off my motorcycle. I stare at Charlie's bar. Charlie's is the one place I have ever called home and it has the best liquor in town. I walk up to the door and push it open, I hear the bells ching.
"Well, Well, Well look who has finally shown up. My lovely friend and the local alcoholic." My annoying friend's voice vocalized.
I roll my eyes at his voice, "Get me my usual Diesel." I barked at him in an unamused tone.
Diesel gasped dramatically and shook his head in a sarcastic disappointment, "Not even a hello? I'm so disappointed in you Re. How could you treat your Bestie like that?"
"D! Stop annoying the poor girl and get her the damn drink!" A southern voice yells from the other side of the room. Diesel immediately gets to work on giving me my whiskey. I sit down on one of the bar stools and wait for my drink. Diesel comes over with a clear glass full of brown liquid. He slides it over to me, "How you feelin' Re?" He asks while running his hand through his golden-brown hair.
"The usual," I state while looking into his chocolate eyes.
"So lonely and depressed. And of course...Mean?" He jokes looking at me with a crooked smile.
I take a sip of my drink while raising my eyebrows and shrugging my shoulders as if to say yup. I take in his features; he has short brown hair, chocolate eyes, and a prominent jaw line, but he mostly has soft features.
In the corner of my eye, I catch a glimpse of blonde hair. "Hey there Hunny!" Emma's cheerful southern voice says. I remove the drink from my lips and feel the burn of liquor trickle down my throat. I set my cup on the bar and turn my body to face Emma. "Hey Em, How are you doing?" I ask. "I'm doing really well, Sugar," She says beaming at me with her big blue eyes staring straight at me.
"How was that job of yours?" Emma asks me, "It's been handled." I told her.
I hear Diesel chuckle, "so how much did you make for this job?" He cleans some cups while he asks me. I look at him with an amused expression, "Why do you care so much, D? Are you jealous that I make more than you ever could?" I joke. Diesel tilts his head back in a laugh letting out the most jumbled set of laughs one could ever produce, "I ain't jealous. I just want to see how much richer you are...So I can steal it." I chuckle, shaking my head while Emma giggles like a maniac by my side, "I'd like to see you try Diesel Shepard." I challenge him while holding back another laugh. Not long after we were met with serene silence.
I grab my glass to take another drink but as soon as I hold it up to my lips I realize it's empty. I look at D, "Do your job and get me another one." I smirk at him.
"Yes, Ma'am." Diesel says and takes my glass to refill it. "If you haven't already called Mr. Blackford I suggest you do," Emma states looking at all the people in the bar. I nod and get out of my seat, "I'll be back." She nods and I walk to the back of the bar.
I push open the back door and walk through, The chill air hits my face, and goosebumps spread across my body like a wave. I take a deep breath and pull out my phone from my back pocket. I unlock it and lean against the back wall. I click on the contacts button and scroll down to the N's.
Nicholas Blackford, I click the contact name.
I press the call button and lift the phone up to my ear. The ringing tone is loud in my ear but soon it is replaced with the gruff voice of Nicholas Blackford.
"Edrea, is it done?" he asks, "What do you think?" I retorted.
I hear him let out a frustrated sigh, "I need you to come in, There's an important mission."
