I sat down at the table where my mom sat, reading news. -Hey mother, I said. -Good morning, sweetheart! Here's your cereal. She gave me my cereal. I poured the milk in the bowl. My favorite cereal. 5G banana puffs. -Yummy! I said as I smiled at mom. -I'm glad you like it! Mom is a therapist and she works with children. Young ones. Like younger than the age of eight. Almost everyday, she meets a new kid. Some of them can't stay motivated or concentrated, or sometimes they don't want to communicate with other children. That's the most common things she talks about with people she meets. But sometimes, she meets children who have lost their loved ones, or children who are addicted to the screen. -I wanted to tell you about a boy who I'm meeting today, by the way! -A boy? -Yes, she said. And he has a specific reason to meet me. Let me tell you what his mother says about him. Mom took her computer and started reading out loud.
Hello Jessica! My child has been like this in a few months now and we would like to get some help.
So, I have a son, his name is Lucius. He's five years old. When he was around three, he stopped talking to us, he stopped smiling at us and communicating with us. He didn't ignore us, but whatever we told him, he would always answer "Emo". I have no idea what he wanted to tell us by that but he always kept saying that word. And when he asked him what he wanted, why he is like this, how we could stop him, he always told us: "emo". So one day we searched up the word "emo", because we didn't really understand what it meant. We clicked on "images" and there was a lot of scary people with black hair, lots of piercings, and some of them didn't even show their eyes. As fast as we saw the images we got so scared. We started thinking that Lucius meant that he actually wanted to be one of these monster-like creatures. We didn't know what to do, so we talked to a doctor, and he said that we have to spoil Lucius as much as possible with things that looked "emo". Next time we tried to talk to the doctor, he got fired. We booked another visit, but never got to speak with a doctor. So we just decided to give him things that he wanted. We gave him an emo haircut, emo gaming setup, emo clothes, emo food, everything he wanted should be "emo". And then he just kept living his life. He barely talked to us, but we were still happy that he was finally feeling okay. When we asked things, he rarely answered. He wasn't normal. But it's ok to be different! That's what we thought. Until he started to steal, play video games about monsters, sometimes not sleep at night. He's only five. He drinks a lot of energy drinks, calls us bad words, and always tells us to shut up when we ask him anything. When we come into his room, he tells us to get out of there. And if we try to stay, he pushes us very hard. I don't know where he got these fighting skills, but my leg hurt two whole days after he punched me that time. This has been happening for a month now and we really need help.
//Klara, Lucius mother :)I stared at mother. What's up with that kid? He's only five. -What?! How is that possible? I said. Mom looked at her salad and said:
- I really have no idea. And I don't know how I can solve this. I'm actually a quite scared. What if he punches me? I really don't want to get called bad words. The most shocking part is that he's only five. Mom seemed very worried. And I understood her. It must be so scary meeting a crazy kid like Lucius. I stood up and walked to her. I looked in her blue eyes and said quietly:
-You're going to be okay, mommy. I promise.
-Oh, Fixe, you're so sweet, she said. But you're my child, you shouldn't try to comfort me.
-Yes, I should. Because I love you. And it makes me happy to comfort people I love. Mom smiled at me.
-You make me happy too. Not only when you comfort me. You always make me happy. She hugged me. I smiled. I'm so lucky to have her. My mother. This lovely moment started reminding me about Lilja, my girlfriend in school. -Well, I think it's time for me to brush my teeth and pack my backpack! -Yes, she said. Go on. I went to the bathroom and stared at the mirror. Damn, no wonder why Lilja is my girlfriend, I thought. I started brushing my teeth. I don't know why but honestly, I love the sound of electric toothbrushes. They're so relaxing to listen to. But, nothing beats the rap song I wrote a year ago. When I was done, I opened the door. -Goodbye, mom! I said. I arrived at school. The first lesson was math. Pretty boring. I'm glad I'm good at math though. Me and Alexander are sitting together. It's hard to not talk about Fortnite all the time, but our teacher stops us. I have two friends at school. Maybe not that much, but we're very close and that's the most important part. Alexander is my best friend. He likes basketball, football and mini golf. He also challenges me to do funny things. Once, he challenged me to dress up like a girl. It took me an hour to find my mother's old wig she had in high school. She loved cosplaying at the time, so she had a lot of different cool wigs and outfits. I asked her if I could borrow some of them for one day and she said yes. That's one of the funniest challenges Alexander ever came up with. It may not sound that funny but trust me, it was so entertaining to see everyone's reaction. People stared at me and talked to me all the time that day. My teacher told me that her daughter loved people who dress up in costumes, and that she wanted to take a picture of me so she could show it to her daughter. I said yes. She also told me that I was brave. - I bet that there's no boy who's brave enough to show up like this in our class, she giggled. So yeah. Alexander is the funny guy, I guess. My second friend is Lilja. We're dating, so she's my girlfriend. I know it's weird that two ten year olds are dating, but I love her. And she loves me. And I don't think it bothers anyone. I mean, some high schoolers often joke about us, but they don't know how strong our love is. So me and Lilja just... ignore them! Lilja loves to travel. She has traveled to a lot of different countries. She mostly travels to Spain and Germany. She has a grandma and a grandpa who live in Germany, she meets them two times a year. And she travels to Spain for entertainment. Lilja also loves pets. She has a cat and his name is Dennie. He's very handsome, but he sleeps most of the time. Lilja likes watching movies and reading books about detectives, and her dream job is detective. Lilja loves a lot of stuff, but the thing Lilja loves the most is me. We met four years ago, and fell in love one year ago. At first, she was in a friend group with six girls in our class. Lea, Lena, Olivia, Stella, Nova, and Daniela. But she always got left out. No one noticed it. Not even I. Until one day when it was autumn break, I was shopping Fortnite stuff in the mall. Mom also asked me to go to the supermarket to buy some vegetables and fruits. But when I walked away from the vegetable zone, I accidentally stepped on something. I looked down. My leg was standing on a blue book with glitter on it. I picked it up and opened it. On page one, it said : Lilja Ledstorm's diary. I realized it was my classmate. I want to respect others privacy, but I really wondered why it was there, laying on the floor. I opened a random page. And I got so sad.
