The big 5 are the five participating countries which contribute the most amount of money towards the contest and therefore are automatically entered in to the final of the competition.
The Big 5 are:
France
Germany
Italy
Spain
United Kingdom
Usually, the automatic qualifiers for the final include the winning country from the previous year. However, as last year's winner was Italy, only the big 5 countries will go through and there will only be 25 participants in the grand final opposed to 26.
