Maddox

Willow and her family walk out the door and I'm left with two children who look just alike. The door was slammed so both turned their heads and saw me standing near the kitchen. I stand still but give them a tiny wave.

The little girl looks to her brother and starts to crawl a bit ways to him. He lets her do so as he looks at me. "Who are you?" He says in his most protective brother voice.

"I'm Maddox, I'm a friend of Willows, I'm just here to watch you." I nod my head making my way over to the couch. "What's your name?" I ask even though I know them. "I'm Grey, and this is Rory, she is very shy." Grey speaks up.

"It's nice to meet you guys." I say in the nicest voice I got. I keep reminding myself why I'm doing this. "I'm just going to sit on the couch and you guys let me know if you need anything."

Rory keeps her head to me but when I sit down and start to watch tv, she turns her attention back to her brother and the toys in front of her. "Maddie?" I hear a voice. I turn and see Greyson looking at me. "I'm hungry." He says in an annoyed voice.

"Your mom said not to feed you, but just because I like you guys, you guys can have a cup of goldfish, yeah?" I nod and they both smile. I head to the kitchen and grab the goldfish box and pour it in a cup for them to share.

They munch on their snacks happily as I go back to the tv and watch Netflix. They eventually come back and start playing a brand new game. I look at my phone and see that it is almost ten and I have only been here for thirty minutes.

I see a text from Willow as I'm checking my phone.

"If they get tired or want to go to bed, put them in my bed."

"Got it, having fun?"

"Honestly, tons of fun, I wish I could do this more."

"Well don't have too much fun alright."

"Yeah, Yeah, goodbye."

"Goodbye"

My eyes are threatening to fall shut but I keep them open because the kids are still playing. It's almost twelve and I got a text from Willow saying that they will be out for another hour because lines are getting long.

I tell her they can stay as late as they want and go back to watching the kids. I lay on my side as I watched them wrestle with one another. I'm a huge fan of kids, I have always wanted about ten of them.

I like the way a child has their ways all the time and is so innocent and brings light into this world.

I hear a yawn and see both of them trying not to fall asleep. This snaps me up and I sit on the couch with my arms on my legs. "Tired?" I ask and I know they want to say no but they nod their heads.

"C'mon, Willow said you can sleep in her bed." This gets them excited and they head to the loft and lay down on her bed. They pass out in a matter of seconds as I pull the blanket on their tiny bodies.

I go back to the couch after grabbing a throw blanket and laying down on the couch. I look out the window and see its pouring rain and I sigh, I hate rain. It's only pleasant when it rains lightly.

I turn so my front is facing the couch and bury my face in the cushion, how does her scent manage to be everywhere.

This is her apartment stupid.

I feel myself drift off to sleep while thinking of her and how the heck I managed to be in her place right now.

I know for a fact that I didn't sleep for that long because I look at my clock and see it's not even that close to twelve. I get woken up by someone shaking me and I assume it's Willow.

I turn but the figure who woke me is right at my level almost. I open my eyes more and see Rory in her princess nightgown. I look at her face and see that her eyes are red and she has been crying.

I sit up and gently place my hands on her arms. "Are you alright sweetheart?" I ask and she shakes her head no. "I- I- had a bad dream, and I'm scared of the rain." Her voice grew more and more raspy.

"Do you want to sleep here?" I gesture to the other part of this long couch. She nods but what I don't expect is for her to make me scoot over and cuddle into my chest. My heart warms as I wrap her in my blanket.

Thankfully this couch is wide so I have enough space and so does she so I don't have to worry about her falling off the couch.

"Can we switch sides?" Her little voice comes out and I just can't say no. She gets up and once I get up she tucks herself into the side of the couch. I get in next to her and she curls up at my side.

My heart won't stop warming up at the sweetness of this little girl. Her face is so precious and it makes me want to just grow up and have a kid. She sighs in content as she falls back asleep. Her mouth opens, helping her breath easier.

I find myself falling asleep quicker and drifting off.
