It's been a couple years since the Jake incident. Michael never found a way back to his home world but he did find a home in this one, with Bruce. He didn't entirely belong in the world he was put in before anyway. Bruce never felt he belonged within the people he was surrounded with. So when he realized how well Michael understood him, he suddenly felt a sense of belonging. It was almost as if the had met each other before, maybe in a past life.
Jake may not have had as happy of an ending but was released early from Arkham Asylum after showing incredible growth. Batman, Michael and Jake did have to complete 90 hours of service at outback as repayment, though. As a cheesy black and white movie plays on the theater screen Bruce glances down at Michael who has dozed off. Turns out, there are some people in this world that like him for himself.
