Prologue

For Peter Parker, his life currently is not the best that it could be. He had finally confessed his true feelings to Gwen, who told him she felt the same way and that for them to be together, they would have to break their current relationships. Little did they know Harry found out about their plan and became Green Goblin again. Peter later meets up with Liz, his girlfriend, to break things off with her. He felt guilty because he did have feelings for her, but his love for Gwen was more substantial, or so he thought. It would only hurt Liz if they continued to date while still loving Gwen. Later, Peter defeats Green Goblin, Norman Osborn, who dies in an explosion leading to a funeral for Harry's dad. Before Gwen broke up with him at the funeral right, Harry guilt trips her knowing what she was trying to do. Gwen decides to stay with Harry leaving Peter alone with nobody.

*During summer vacation*

"Yeah, this is totally not how I want to spend my summer vacation," Peter states as he takes off his Spider-man costume in his room. Finish with another night of patrol, he thinks back on what had transpired since the funeral.

"To think going out as Spider-man would take my mind off of Gwen and Harry still being together. Nope, it didn't help at all. At this point, I rather not reach out to Gwen because even with her still being with Harry to avoid causing him to go green again, she left me alone. Maybe this is just the sign that we are not meant to be together; it's not like she bothers reaching out to me since the funeral. Also, trying to contact Black Cat is out of the question; she's probably still upset with me after letting her father rot in jail, but who could blame her. Besides, the only way we could patch anything between us would be to reveal my identity to her, yet that did not help if it meant not freeing her father." Peter groans as he lays back in his bed.

He almost decides to reach out to Mary Jane, even at one point he wouldn't have minded asking her out, but she was on vacation, and he didn't want to bother her. Not to mention M.J. at one point told him they were just friends and later was seeing Liz's brother Mark, so there's most likely no chance with her right now.

Peter snaps out of his thoughts when he hears the doorbell ring. Since Aunt May isn't back home yet, Peter goes to the door to answer the call, not expecting to see the person behind the corner. "Liz?"

"Hey Petey, is this a bad time?" Peter's former girlfriend, Liz shyly asks, standing outside the door.

Multiple thoughts pop into Peter's head, seeing the sight of Liz to where he stumbles on his response. "Oh no, I mean, I'm available right now. Aunt May isn't home, and I was settling in, but you can come in if you like?" He invites her, which Liz accepts gracefully. Peter escorts her to his room; thankfully, it wasn't messing, so they can have some privacy if his aunt comes back.

"So is everything okay? I will admit that I'm surprise that you are over here." Peter can't help the curiosity within him rising about what Liz wants to say though he knows how things have been, and he assumes that she's here about fixing her popularity from the breakup.

"Yes and no, like nothing life-threatening though I want to talk to you personally before it's too late," Liz states, still nervous.

"Too late for what?" Peter asks, feeling more concerned.

"I know the last time we talked was when you ended things, and of course, I snapped at you as a result in front of our peers. At that moment, my initial thought was to make it seem like I was dumping you so my reputation would be intact, but right afterward, I felt horrible because, despite the flaws in our relationship, I couldn't help the feelings I still have for you. During our time away from each other, I figured you broke up with me for Gwen, and while a part of me feels I shouldn't look back, the other side wants to at least fight for us. That's why I'm here to see if there is still a chance and if not, that's okay. I will accept that, but I want you to at least know sorry for how I did you that day, if nothing else." Liz expresses her desires for Peter and now waits in anticipation allowing him to soak up her confession.
