It was maybe 2 in the morning, and the losers were in Beverly's van on a road trip. Every summer now that they have gotten older, they've made a pact to take a vacation together as a group, to get away from the stress of life. Everyone in the car was asleep except for Mike who's turn it was to drive, Beverly, who was in the front talking to him, and Eddie and Richie, who were in the backseat together.

They had been dating for 2 years now, which was relieving for both of them, considering they had liked each other since kindergarten. Richie was reading a comic with the car light on above him shining on the pages, and Eddie was on the verge of passing out. He had brought things to do in the car, but he really enjoyed just looking at his boyfriend, it didn't matter where they were or what they were doing, looking at Richie was calming and mesmerizing, frankly. He observed Richie's bone structure and the way his eyes moved as he read the pages of his comic book. His shaggy curly hair was in his face, and his chunky glasses made Eddie have to lean forward a little bit to see past them. Richie noticed that Eddie had been staring at him and looked over at him. "What are you looking at?" He laughed and smiled at his boyfriend, He enjoyed looking at Eddie just as much as Eddie enjoyed looking at him.

"I'm looking at your cute ass, moron." Eddie rolled his eyes playfully as he tried to hold back a giggle. "C'mere." Richie said, holding his arms out, motioning Eddie to come closer. Eddie inched closer to his boyfriend and held onto his torso. He could hear Richie's heartbeat as he laid upon his chest. Richie put his hand on Eddie's head and ran his fingers through his hair. It was soft and fluffy, and it smelt like the familiar shampoo Eddie had been using for years. Eddie grabbed Richie's free hand and held on tight, as if he was never going to let go. The boys felt safe with each other, it felt like nothing bad could ever happen. "I love you, Eds." Richie whispered, assuring his boyfriend. Eddie looked up at him, "I love you too."
