Hey, folks, this is my first book ever. I thought about it for a while, and even commented that I was going to make my own book while reading some of another How to Train Your Dragon writer's books( his name is Curlyhorse, you should go read his dragon masters series, it's really good!). But, I bet I'm boring you, so here goes my first book. Hope you like it!
Hiccup's P.O.V.
Well hello there! In case you didn't know, I'm Hiccup, and this is my village, Berk. Literally. I became chief only a couple days ago, because my father died. (Sigh) It sucks being chief sometimes. Unlike most places, where you might find horses and dogs as great pets, we have DRAGONS! The village placed in a single word: hard- working. Wait that's two words. Oh well. You know what I mean. It's a lot of work to keep this village from falling apart. It's really old, but every single building is new. Oh look, there goes Fishlegs, one of my good friends. He looks worried, I better see what's up. "Fishlegs, what makes you look so worried?" I asked. "There are wild dragons coming in from the east! They look like they're going to attack!" He responded. You see, dragons uses to be a bit of a problem around here, but ever since I shot down a night fury, befriended it, trained it, and proved to the rest of the village that everything we thought we knew about them was wrong, they have become less of a problem, but still on the list. Now, almost everyone in the village has a dragon. But, sometimes wild dragons just attack, looking for food. We used to kill dragons, but now, we use, for the most part the same weapons, as non-hurtful traps to capture the dragons so we can train them. We also learned some tricks from my mom Valka, who ( long story short) left me when I was a baby, and held a dragon sanctuary until I found her a couple days ago and brought her back. But, in the process of finding her, I found out about a man named Drago Bloodvist, who, at first, I thought his name was Dargo Bloodyfist, but then my dad, Stoik the Vast, corrected me, and told me the story of how he found out about Drago Bloodvist. "Long ago, there was a gathering of chieftains, to discuss the dragon scourge we all faced. From within our midst, came a stranger, from a strange land. His name was Drago Bloodvist. He spoke softly, saying that he alone could help us, that he alone could control the dragons, but in return, we had to bow to him as chief of all of us. Indeed, we laughed at him, but then he quickly turned, and walked away, yelling 'Then see how well you do without me!' Suddenly, the roof burst into flames, and armored dragons decended, and burned the hall to the ground. I was the only one to escape." Stoick explained. He seemed very shaken up about it. When we found my mother in her dragon sanctuary, my father seemed like the happiest person in the world, without showing too much of it. The second thing he did when he found out about my mom still being alive, because he thought she was dead, was sing and dance their favorite song. It goes like this,
(Males turn)
I'll swim and sail on savage seas
With ne'er a fear of drowning
And gladly ride the waves of life
If you will marry me
No scorching sun
nor freezing cold
Will stop me on my journey
If you'll promise me your heart
(Females turn)
And love me for eternity
My dearest one
My darling dear
Your mighty words astound me
But I've no need of mighty deeds
When I feel your arms around me
(Males turn)
But I would bring you rings of gold
I'd even sing you poetry
And I would keep you from all harm
If you would stay beside me
(Females turn)
I have no use for rings of gold
I care not for your poetry
I only want your hand to hold
(Males turn)
I only want you near me
(Both)
To love to kiss
To sweetly hold
For the dancing and the dreaming
Through all life's sorrows and delights
I'll keep your love inside me
I'll swim and sail on savage seas
With ne'er a fear of drowning
And gladly ride the waves of life
If you will marry me (end of song)
Yeah, it's a long song, but it's their special song. So I have, or, had, no objections. But, unfortunately, as soon as they were done, we heard a bunch of dragons screaming and roaring, so we ran to a nearby cliff hanger, and look out to see Drago Bloodvist's army pointing their weapons at us. During the fight, Drago called out his Bewilderbeast, a rare type of dragon, the alpha species, to take down mom's Bewilderbeast, who was the alpha. The alpha can control dragons. When Drago's Bewilderbeast wins, we knew we were screwed. Drago commands his Bewilderbeast to take control of my dragon, a night fury, and orders him to kill me. But as my dragon, Toothless fires a fatal plasma blast, my father runs and jumps in front of it, saving me at the cost of his own life. Toothless is able to break free of the Bewilderbeast's control, but out of grief, I send him away, causing Drago to take control of all the dragons, including Toothless, and march towards Berk. He rode Toothless to Berk, because he probably realized that Toothless couldn't fly on his own. That's because when I initially shot him down, it broke off part of his tail wing, causing him to not be able to fly without a new wing. I made one for him, but it requires a rider to operate it. So, while Drago is marching towards Berk, me, Fishlegs, Snotlout my cousin, twins Ruffnut and Tuffnut, Astrid my girlfriend, mom, Eret, and Gobber, a friend of dads, host a funeral for my now dead father. Gobber is pretty cool, and his words to honor my father were: May the valkeries welcome you, and lead you through Odin's great battlefield. May they sing your name with love and fury, so that we might hear it rise from the depths of Valhalla, and know that you have taken your rightful place at the table of kings. For a great man has fallen. A warrior, a chieftain, a father, a friend. Afterwards, though, I find the courage, determination, and anger to go find some baby Scuttleclaws, another type of dragon, quickly train them, and ride to Berk to take down Drago. Scuttleclaws are the only dragon to be able to resist the alpha's control. In the end, Toothless becomes alpha and Drago disappears, but we don't know if he is dead or not. That's what we originally thought, but we aren't sure. So, back to Fishlegs. "OK, here's what we do. We'll set up a trap with a couple yak as bait. We'll use nets to trap the dragons that come for them, and..." I said, explaining my plan.
(After the dragon raid) "OK, so, we have four more Monstrous Nightmares, two more Deadly Nadders, two more Gronkles, a Zippleback, and, what is that?" I exclaimed. It was huge! One of our huge nets that were made for 9 or 10 dragons at a time, could only take one. I've never seen a dragon like that before! It had a green head, blue eyes, and a black and green body, with a giant arrowhead thing on the end of his tail. Giant spikes all down its body, and it had this dip behind its neck. "Fishlegs, what is this?" I asked. "No clue, ask Snotlout, he had the twins and their parents and Gobber drag it here." He responded. "Alright then, Snotlout! What type of dragon is this?" I hollered. "Pft, you think I know? I saw it and netted it." He responded, walking passed to who knows where.
"OK. Well, I'll go ask my mom." I answered. As I walked home, I saw Astrid, my beautiful girlfriend, dunking Tuffnut's head in a barrel of yaknog. "Hello, mi'lady." I said. "Hi." She answered, sounding like she was extremely annoyed. Did I miss something important here?
Astrid's P.O.V.
Ugh, Tuffnut will pay for this! He will regret ever trying that! "If you EVER try kissing me again, I will make you wish you were dead!" I yelled at him, before dunking his head underneath the surface of a barrel full of yaknog. I found out yesterday that him and Snotlout hated it, so I decided to make them pay! Snotlout has something coming, and he won't like it! Then I saw Hiccup coming over out of the corner of my eye. "Hello mi'lady." He said. "Hi." I answered. Gods, I sound extremely annoyed. I hope I don't lash out at him. "So, what did Tuffnut do?" He asked. "He tried to kiss me!" I responded, sounding like a mix of anger and crying. "Oh, I see. Well, we always have more room for punishment! Although, dunking his head in a barrel full of yaknog is a very good punishment indeed." He responded, sounding at first like he was mad, then joking, then, well, complimenting me on my idea. It was... awesome! "Well, I found him and Snotlout both hate it, so I decided to punish them." I said, a little anxious to see his response. "Wow, they hate it? They seemed like they liked it." He replied, staring at the barrel. "Yeah, they did. I'm gonna find out just who else hates it. I'm suspicious of the twins, so I'll stop by their place later and give them a big tray of it and see what they do with it." I replied, with an evil grin. "Well, have fun with that. I'm gonna go track down my mom and find out if she knows what this dragon is, or if it's a new species." He answered, looking up at me. "OK, have fun with that." I said. And he left, while I continued dunking Tuffnut's head in the yaknog.
Hiccup's P.O.V.
I was walking home after talking to Astrid, and I see Snotlout running home. I wonder why he is running? I continue on, and then I saw something I never wanted to see again. Drago Bloodvist's spear. It was broken in half, but there it was, lying in the street, where I saw Snotlout start running. I kept staring at it, and the longer I stared at it, the angrier I became. Soon, I was so filled up with rage, that when my mom called me, I snapped back at her. "Hiccup, what are you staring at?" She called from behind me. I turned around and snapped back, "I can stare at whatever I want!" I didn't mean to, but... it's like I lost control for three seconds. "Hiccup, what's the matter with you? You're acting very... oh, I see." She responded, seeing the broken spear on the ground. "C'mon Hiccup, let's go for a ride, maybe that'll cool you down. Toothless!" She called. I could barely hear her, I was so angry. That's when I heard her call Toothless. I broke out in a mental fight, so much that all I saw was black. I suddenly couldn't move, but my vision came back. I found myself on Toothless's back, while he flew around Berk. I felt much better, the wind taking my anger away. I was able to move my head to the left, looking over to see my mom on Cloudjumper, her stormcutter. And when I looked right, I saw Astrid on Stormfly, her Deadly Nadder. She was just sitting there, staring at me, crying. When she realized that I was awake and staring at her, she stood up and yelled to mom, saying that I was alive. Wait, alive? Did they think I was dead? What happened while I was out?
Valka's P.O.V.
After I called Toothless for Hiccup, he slammed his hands into his head, and crumbled to the ground, yelling at me to stay back. I stood there horrified, wondering what was going on? As Toothless landed looking at him, then looking at me, as if to say, What's wrong with him? I looked back at Hiccup, who stood up using his hands to self fight, still screaming "Stay back!" I went to walk towards him, and he shoved me back with his left hand, while his right went to his own neck. I backed up, and heard running footsteps coming from my right. "What's he doing?" Astrid asked, looking as if she was going to ball up and start crying. "I, I don't know." I replied, not knowing what to say or do. He screamed at Astrid, telling her he was sorry. Then, he started running towards the nearest cliff, the one above the docks. Just as suddenly as Hiccup running for the cliff, Toothless ran after him, catching up quickly. But it was too late. Hiccup kept running and jumped off. But Toothless jumped after him, folding himself up so he could go faster. Toothless caught him and wrapped him in his wings just in time to crash into the docks below. As I called Cloudjumper over, Astrid screamed "HICCUP!" I jumped on Cloudjumper, and he zipped down and stopped just above the water. As I slipped off and started looking around, I saw some big bubbles come to the surface. "There, Cloudjumper!" I told him. Not three seconds later, Cloudjumper was coming up and setting Toothless down on a nearby ship. He was still balled up, but I don't know what happened to Hiccup. Toothless started opening his eyes and unfolded his wings, and a huge amount of water fell out. I saw a soaked Hiccup laying there. I quickly grabbed him and dragged him out and tried to hear a heartbeat. But I couldn't find one. My face dropped and went pale. Astrid landed next to me on Stormfly. As she saw my face, she started crying, saying "No, not him... He can't be... NO!" She suddenly screamed. I tried to get her to calm down, but it was as if she wasn't there anymore. She just kept screaming and crying. I couldn't do anything except get Stormfly to grab her and take her home. "NO! STORMFLY, PUT ME DOWN! WE HAVE TO GO BACK!" She kept screaming and crying. I felt horrible for her. I would go get her once she cooled down. For now, I had things I had to do.
Two hours later, I was outside Astrid's house, knocking softly on her door. "Astrid, come on down, it's okay." I kept calling, but with no response. I sighed, and was about to walk away when Astrid opened the door with a new outfit on, and her face wet with tears. "Okay, I'm ready." She said. I knew that Hiccup had made the outfit for her, because it had his signature at the shoulder. She seemed so sad, that I didn't even bother thinking about showing her Drago's spear. I figured that Hiccup clearly was still mad, sad, and unsure about what happened with Drago last week, and that was why he had started attacking himself. Maybe it was a mental fight, against Drago. I was still upset that Stoick was gone. He clearly was worse about it. Ever since Stoick's death, I've heard him muttering to himself about Stoick. But, I've already talked to the rest of the gang, and they have never heard of him acting like that, and I told them that he was dead. I can tell that Fishlegs was not okay with it, because he started laughing and said that I must be kidding. I just dropped my shoulders and shook my head. Fishlegs stopped laughing and immediately passed out. Snotlout was standing there, tears forming in his eyes. He tried to fight it, but lost. He just collapsed onto the ground, saying it was impossible, that Hiccup couldn't be dead. But I just nodded, unsure that my voice would work. The twins were very interesting. Instead of crying, they hugged each other and didn't say anything. At that moment, I knew that as soon as I announced it to the rest of the village, they would go into shock. I didn't know what I could possibly do to keep the village from destroying itself. So I invited the gang for a memorial flight, telling them that I would go get Astrid. So, here we are. Me and Astrid are walking down the street, with our dragons following. We met up with the rest of the gang in the square. As we took off for the docks I saw some people admiring us, looking happy and waving at us, but I paid barely any attention to them. I was too sad to even wave back. We got down there, and we found Toothless sitting there with Hiccup in front of him, as if to gaurd him. As we landed, Toothless looked at us, sadly. He looked as if he had been crying. But maybe it was just the ocean spray. I told the others to wait there, while I hooked up Toothless's tail to autopilot, and secured Hiccup's body to him. When we took off, I looked back to Toothless following us, with his head down, and his face sad. He no longer took on his cheery face, he used his super sad face, and I felt bad for him. He just lost his best friend, and couldn't do anything with his sadness. Astrid at least could go throw her Axe at trees and stuff, but Toothless couldn't do that. We kept flying, and I kept thinking about when I first saw him and Hiccup. Alone in the sky, Hiccup yelling about something, then saying that Stoick should leave him alone, for he thought I was Stoick. When he realized it wasn't Stoick, he looked frightened. Then, back in our time, Astrid yelled "He's alive! Oh my gods Hiccup's ALIVE!" I turned, thinking that I was hallucinating what I heard, until she repeated herself, jumping onto Toothless's back. Wait, what? But how? He didn't have a heart beat! Was this a message from Thor? Or Odin? But, however he came back from the dead, I want to know if anything is different?Hey, what's up! How did you like that chapter? I know it's a little long, but that's just how I write. Once I start, I don't stop. So, how did Hiccup come back? Wouldn't you like to know? Stick around for the next chapter and find out! But that's it for this chapter, I'll catch you guys later. Piece!
