Hey, guys, what up! If you paid close enough attention to the last chapter, you would've noticed that Eret wasn't there for Hiccup's "death". I will explain where he was in this chapter. This is part two of Hiccup's New Journey! Just go with the flow, and you'll later understand. But, 12 reads on that first chapter, already? You guys are awesome! But here we go for part two!
Hiccup's P.O.V.
" So, that's what happened? What in Thor's name was I thinking?" I said, just hearing the story explained by my mom and Astrid. After all, I just very nearly died from some stupid out-of-control actions. And those two were the only ones who witnessed my... I don't even know what to call it. It angers me to think about it, so I quickly changed the subject, making it look obvious that I did not want to talk about this. "Okay, so, where's Eret?" "Still fishing, I think." Fishlegs replied, eyeing me mysteriously. "There he is now! And, um, that's a lot of fish. HOW DID YOU CATCH THAT MANY FISH?" Tuffnut remarked, amazed at how many fish Eret caught. "I didn't catch all the fish, most of them just jumped onto the boat." He replied, kind of gloating as he spoke. "Really? They just jumped into the boat?" Astrid asked. "Yeah, it was weird. It was more like they were trying to get away from something." Eret replied, looking exactly like someone who is trying to figure out what just happened. "So, what'd I miss while I was fishing?" "Nothing much, just some boring chores, and watching Astrid dunk Tuffnut's head in a barrel full of yaknog." Fishlegs replied, happily. "Yeah, it was kinda fun to watch, but I think my father's calling me for some reason. See ya later!" Snotlout said, worriedly eyeballing Astrid, like he was afraid of something. Me and Astrid know why he ran home. "What's funny is, is that here comes his father now." Fishlegs said, with what seemed like an evil grin on his face, which was weird, especially for him. "Have any of you seen Snotlout lately? He forgot to do his chores." (Please let me know what Snotlout's father's name is, I can't remember! I think it might be Spitelout, but I'm not sure.) said. "He ran home, saying you were calling him." I replied, trying not to laugh, and, quite surprisingly, succeeding. "I didn't, not for the last hour anyway. Been trying to find you lot figuring he was with you." He replied, sighing as he talked. "If we see him again, we'll come find you." I said, with my newly found chief voice. I kinda like it. "So, gang, what should we do?" I turned and asked the gang. "I don't know about you, but I'm thinking about training that dragon. We can put it in the Book of Dragons!" Fishlegs stated. "Well that's a very good idea, Fishlegs. Anybody else up for it?" I asked, hoping that they would say no, cause I wanted to check up on Fishlegs. He hasn't been acting normal, except for the part of wanting to find out more about the dragon. "I would, but I promised my parents I would wash Stormfly today. Maybe see you guys later!" Astrid said, jumping on Stormfly and flying away. "I'm gonna take these fish to the Great Hall kitchens." Eret replied, walking away. The twins just randomly took off, not saying anything about what they were doing. So, it was just me and Fishlegs. "So Fishlegs, what are we gonna call this dragon type?" "I don't know, it's kind of hard, with him half trained and all." He replied, carefully studying the dragon. "You aren't going anywhere with my dragon." A random voice replied, softly, nicely. As I turned around, I see a man standing there, about our age, too. "Did you just say your dragon?" I asked, astounded. "Yes, I did. Help me get this net off him." He replied, smoothly. Well, at least he wasn't mad at us. After we got the net off the dragon, the guy looked at us, and said," Thank you, for not killing my dragon. He is the one of only two of his kind." and jumped on the back of the dragon, and, much like we do, took off. I jumped on Toothless and followed him. "Wait! Who are you?" I called after him, kinda hoping he would stop and talk. But I knew he wouldn't. "I am not someone you would like to know, Hiccup." He replied, slowing down enough for me to see the look on his face, which I thought looked like a warning kind of face. "How do you know my name?" I yelled back, making sure he could hear me. I didn't think it possible, but his dragon was a lot faster than Toothless! And he didn't even seem like he was racing! "I'll come back at noon tomorrow, and answer all your questions, if you so wish. But I must return home now, my sister is waiting." He called back, speeding up as much as he could. I saw that we were a ways away from Berk, so I reluctantly turned back to tell the others the plan.
Mysterious Dragon Rider's P.O.V
I knew Spit Fyre was fast, but faster than a Night Fury, by that much?! Wow, just... wow! "Is that you, Gunther?" Called my sister, Gontorr, knowing it was me who had flown into our cave. "Yes, sister, tis I!" I replied chuckling to myself. "You sound like Thor!" She answered, repeating a sentence that she has said a lot more than anyone would think possible. "We say this too much, sister. Do you think we should get something else to greet each other with?" I asked, not caring if she did want it changed or not. "No, I don't. It is, after all, one of the last things we can use to remember our parents. Besides the dragons, that is." She replied, truthfully. Sometimes, it's hard being us. Our parents died when we were young, so their dragons took us in. The dragons are, well, it's hard to explain. See, they're as smart, if not smarter, than us humans. Anyway, ever since, we had learned how to ride them, feed them, hunt, and cook. The basic things for living on your own. Oh, and learning to fight. That's also important. We also taught each other to sweet talk people and plain talking to dragons. Learning to talk to dragons is important to us, especially if we start arguing over something. OK, not really especially, but in case it goes any farther, the dragons will stop us in our tracks. Man, if it weren't for the dragons, we would probably be dead. We were hunting a couple weeks ago, and ran into some wild nightmares, and got trapped. Then the dragons came down between the nightmares and us, and got them to leave. It may seem pretty simple, but it wasn't. We were there for about 2 hours. We were horrified the entire time. (Sighs) The past isn't something to dwell on. We must only look forward, toward the future. That's what our father used to say. But, anyway, it doesn't matter. The point is, our dragons will protect us till the day they, or we, die. "What's for dinner, sis?" I asked, hoping she would not say fish. I don't like fish anymore, because we used to live on a very small island, and we ate fish all the time. The dragons had flown through a storm(we thought Thor was mad at us for some reason) and both got struck by lightning and we crashed into the island. Not realizing how small it was, we thought we would be fine. Now we know that had we stayed there, we would've been prisoners. The people of Berk call that island Outcast Island. Well, it wasn't really that small. It was an OK size, but our little corner we landed on, couldn't be seen by the people there. They call themselves Outcasts. I made a lot of different jokes about that. Our small corner was sort of connected to the rest of the island, but the sea overflowed the walkway pretty deeply. So we called it home. Of course, we didn't name it, because it was still part of Outcast Island, but it wasn't at the same time. Also because then we would be inclined to stay. "I figured you would not like fish, so I went and found some berries. I also got a wild horse, uh... gods, what are they called?" My sister answered, trying to remember the name of wild horses. "Mustangs?" I said, hopefully answering her question. I really appreciate her thoughts, but... I don't know, something seems wrong. It could be my encounter with the Berkians, but normally, I would know if it was that. "Yeah, that's what they're called. Anyway, that's what's for dinner. We'll have to wait a while though, so the meat will cook thoroughly and we don't poison ourselves." she replied. "As expected with meat. Wait, what's that on your arm?" I asked her, seeing something red moving along her arm. I was afraid she was trying to hide being hurt, for she always thought she wasn't tough enough. As I kept looking, I realized it wasn't blood, but more like... "It's my new pet snake! Like it? I call him Slippy!" Gontorr replied, happy she found her own pet. What she didn't know, is that it was poisonous, and a little bit like a phoenix bird, with it exploding into flames, only to be born from the ashes again. Except, this snake ( I knamed it the Hungarian Hotwax( and yes, that is the name of a type of pepper.)) exploded about 12 times bigger. That is about equal to the size of a Hotburple's lava blast. "That, is no pet snake, that is a very dangerous one. We must get it out of here." I said slowly, knowing that this type of snake could sort of understand me. Thankfully she understood, probably realizing what it was. "I'll be back, me and Slippy are going for a walk." She answered, slowly. As she disappeared over the hill, I heard an explosion, and feared the worst. I was wrong. She had thrown the snake out over the ocean, causing the new snake to fall and drown. She was pretty awesome sometimes. "Sorry it wasn't keepable, sis. I know you want some type of pet besides the dragons." I told her, hopefully calming her down. "No no, it's fine, I should've realized what it was. It was my fault." She quickly said. "That's why, I decided, that you might want this guy." I answered, handing her a small lizard. I found him in the woods with a broken tail. I nursed his tail back to health and he just kind of follows me around. Seems pretty obedient, and my sister wants a pet, so I gave him over. "Thank you!" She gasped, hugging me with one arm, the other holding the lizard. As she pulled away, she asked, "Where did you find him?" "Just in the woods, while I was out on a walk. His tail was broken, so I helped him out, and he kind of just stayed with me. I'm sure you'll like him, he's not dangerous." Well, one problem solved. Now, I must deal with Berk.
Astrid's P.O.V.
Hiccup returned from chasing the other Dragon Rider, and told us the plan. "Well, I guess we'll see what happens tomorrow." I replied. " Where did he come from? I mean, we're the only ones with dragons, right?" Snotlout asked, suddenly behind us. Fishlegs looks like he has seen a ghost. "Fishlegs, you OK?" Hiccup asked him, only to receive a faint mumbling and then Fishlegs fainted. "Fishlegs, what are you doing?" Snotlout asked. "He fainted, numbnut." The mysterious Dragon rider was back already, and kneeling down, looking at Fish. "Where did you come from?" Hiccup questioned. "I will start at the beginning, but we must move him. Where is Gothi?" The man replied, making sure he made no sudden movements. How does he know everybody's names? Ooh, that'll be my first question. "Gobber! Thank Thor you were walking nearby. Do you know where Gothi is? I already checked her house, she isn't there." The man yelled, while Gobber strode over. "She, um, is down at Hiccup's place, checking in on Valka. That's why I came over here, was to tell you that Valka is sick, Hiccup. She can't move, won't take anything, all she is doing is repeating that Drago killed you and Stoick." Gobber replied, seemingly questioning the situation. "I think I know why, it's because I sort of did die. For a while anyway." Hiccup answered. Some things should not be said until absolutely necessary, and this was one of those times that it's a good thing he said it. Of course, after Hiccup and the man ran to Valka and Gothi, I told Gobber about Hiccup's "death". " Well, I have heard of this kind of thing happening before. That man I was just talking to, is Gunther. He died during a dragon raid, 22 years ago. We did a ceremonial for him, just like we did for Stoick, but seeing him walking around..." He trailed off, looking extremely upset. He then dropped his face, turned, and ran for the horn. I spun around and saw some ships sailing towards us. Whoever they are, probably weren't invited.
Gobber's P.O.V.
I saw the ships and ran for the horn, blowing it three times. As I looked up, I could almost smell the evil in the air. I never thought this time would come again. Those days were bloody, cruel, and evil. The war was coming back, and this time, I don't think we can win.
Hiccup's P.O.V.
I heard the horn three times, an attack. As I walked outside, I heard Gobber telling the gang to hide. Hide? Why? He turned, saw me, and took me with them. Gobber decided that we should hide in his family cave. It was hidden specifically for hiding. Explaining it sounds weird, but if you could see it, you would understand. After Gobber finished getting us all in there, he explained why we were hiding. "Long ago, back when me and your father were your age, these men came and attacked us. They overpowered us, and me and Stoick fled here. We climed up to the window up there, and watched the town get almost completely destroyed. We saw Gunther and his sister being beaten, just for sport. Their parents murdered in front of them. But, luckily, two dragons came and picked up Gunther and his sister and fled. The men chased the dragons, only to be lost in the fog. We haven't heard from them since, until now. If you want, there are slingshots positioned to attack enemy ships. You may shoot those, but under no circumstances are you allowed to leave this area. I mean it!" Gobber finished, making sure his last sentence was heard. He looked at us like if we disobeyed him, he would kill us himself. "No leaving, got it." I replied quickly, understanding that I should actually listen this time. This was going to be boring.
Astrid's P.O.V.
I noticed a piece of paper stuck in Hiccup's shoulderpad. I grabbed it, and read the note. It read,
Dear Astrid, for I know you will be the one to see this, you must inform the others that the men attacking us again, they call themselves the Krakens. In Fishlegs' back pocket is a journal me and Stoick kept to inform others about these horrible people.
Signed, Gobber
As soon as I finished reading it, I walked over to Fishlegs, and grabbed the book out of his pocket. He didn't even notice.
1hour later
"OK, guys, you can come out now." We heard Gobber say from the other side of the door. We stepped outside, and could see Berk still standing, although a bit messy. But that's easy enough to fix. What was bad though, was Gobber's face. He looked out at the village, sadly. As I looked towards the village, I saw that the dragons were missing. Well, most of them. What I was more worried about, was why were Stormfly and Toothless sitting on the ground, facing away from us. As we walked down towards them, I noticed Stormfly had quite a few cuts on her. But Toothless was worse. Missing scales everywhere, bleeding badly, and was he crying? I couldn't see between them, until I walked next to them. What I saw, changed everything.
Hiccup's P.O.V
I was thinking about how badly the village had been destroyed, so I walked slower than the others, to gather up what thoughts I could to help the village. As I caught up with the rest of the gang, I saw something nobody wished they had. Dad. Barely alive, and burnt, but there. What is going on around here?
Ooh, cliffhanger. Stoick has come back from the dead, so has Hiccup and Gunther. But will Gunther's history be explained? Is this a curse, or something better? All in good time, you will find out. All in good time. Anyway, what do you think happened with the Krakens, and why are some of the dragons missing? Why are Stormfly and Toothless badly damaged, but none of the others? Just wait for the next chapter! Also, sorry it took me so long. I was waiting on some ongoing ideas, and I wanted to see how many people would actually read this. Whoever is reading it, you are awesome! Thank you so much, and have a wonderful day. Until next time!( or in the chat XD)
