yoongi resisted the urge to bounce his foot along to the song that played in the background as he worked on his sculpture for art class. it was saturday and it was half four in the evening.
yoongi had had a long day at work, with the groups being a little bigger than last week. this week he'd only had one group which wasn't the full 30 children, but it was still 29. despite how much he just wanted to flop on the bed and do nothing, he still had to finish his model and then move onto the painting by monday. it wasn't that he really minded painting that much, it was just that it was a lot to do in a short amount of time, and with work and his other weekly responsibilities, he certainly didn't have much time. he'd managed to finish everything throughout the week except for his chemistry work as he had procrastinated for a long time with it.
but that was okay. his chemistry was due on wednesday. his art, sculpture and painting, was due on monday. even though he had submitted his model the previous week, his teacher has told him his ideas was too generic and he painted it too simplistically and asked him to try it again in a different style. and so yoongi was doing just that, even going as far as to dig out the most fine paint brushes for the finer details. yoongi couldn't lie, it was pretty heartbreaking to hear someone, especially a qualified adult, call his art work generic and simplistic. but it only drove yoongi to create more obscure and unique art works. plus, it had meant he was able to keep his art work from before.
yoongi stared at it as it sat on the windowsill. it was a beautiful korean woman dressed in hanbok, her jeogori white, her dongjeong red, and her chima a lighter shade of red. she did look a little simple, but that was just the design of her clothing. yoongi still thought she was beautiful, especially since it had been inspired by an old picture of his mum from when she was only in her 20s. yoongi sighed, trying not to overthink if it had been disrespectful to call the traditional korean hanbok she wore "simplistic" and "generic". not wanting to get angry, yoongi pushed it to the side and got to work on a more detailed version of what he'd already made.
he made the sculpture a lot bigger and a lot more detailed in the sense that the fabric now appeared to be blowing in the wind, as well as her hair. she had a warm smile on her face and her hair tied neatly up in a bun. this time around, yoongi included a flowery pattern on the dress, and a colour scheme which matched it a lot better. with a layer of red on the chima done and a layer of white on the jeogori also done, yoongi set it on his windowsill to dry before he would do the flower pattern tomorrow morning and evening.
he wanted the pattern to be perfect, and so he would wake up earlier to get started on it. afterall, waking up earlier gave him a valid excuse to drink coffee without his mum scolding him too harshly.
"byebye, have a great rest of your day!" waved yoongi politely. he had began resorting to a close mouthed smile so he wouldnt have to smile properly. it seemed to work just the same as before and nobody seemed to mind. afterall, some people naturally smiled with their mouths closed.
yoongi sighed with relief and lifted the remainder of his coffee up to his lips, sipping the rest slowly before putting the empty rubbish in the bin. he'd been up since 5 and been painting until he had to get ready and leave, which was at nine. with four hours spent on it, he had completed the front half of the tanbok, and was pretty proud with how it had turned out so far. he had to paint over his mistakes with a few coats of red but other than that, everything was going smoothly so far.
with it being yoongi's hour lunch break, he rushed to the staffroom, excited to eat the lunch he had prepared himself, or at least thought he had. when he opened the fridge, the memory that he'd forgotten had hit him. he sighed, knowing he'd have to buy something from somewhere.
yoongi tsked a little, before grabbing his bag and rushing out of the library to visit the store down the road. as if it could get any worse, it was raining outside. yoongi sighed and stepped out into the rain, sheltering his bag with his waterproof coat and just letting his hair get wet. he may have looked a bit silly with his bag how it was, but it was much better than getting his belongings all soaked in the rain.
as yoongi rushed into the store, he squealed embarrassingly loud as he ran into someone on their way out. yoongi slipped on the wet tiles of the store entrance, tensing when he knew he was falling and even more when he felt the stranger grip his arms and stand him up straight again.
yoongi took a step back and looked up, feeling tense and incredibly anxious. he was sure his heart had never pounded so hard.
both relief and dread hit him when he looked up at the stranger, brushing his wet hair out of his eyes and covering his mouth as he laughed. the familiar laugh joined his.
"looks like we're once again bumping into eachother at the store. you alright, carrot sticks? you almost became carrot splat" joked jungkook. yoongi grabbed jungkook's arm as he laughed manically, trying to recover from the small fall. realising what he had done, he pulled off of jungkook at at awkward speed.
"sorry.. and sorry for that too" he said as he calmed down, now making jungkook laugh. yoongi hoped it wasn't obvious his cheeks weren't only red from the cold.
"it's my bad, I was looking at my shopping bags" shrugged jungkook with a smile. yoongi shifted his gaze from jungkook's face to his coat, seeing it was undone. his eyes stayed there for longer, looking through the gap in his coat at the slightly lowly cut tank top, showing off his skin. it was slightly shimmery with rain, which only made the sight more attractive and yoongi more flustered. he diverted his eyes and tried to act normal.
"coat undone in this weather?" he asked as he raised an eyebrow. jungkook chuckled at yoongi's expression, a slight smirk on his face as he chuckled.
"just got out the gym, it was an intense session" he informed. yoongi's cheeks heated up as jungkook pulled his coat apart a little, showing off how his sweat had made his black tank top stick to him a little. yoongi only nodded, pretending to itch his nose in order to cover his face. he hoped it wasn't obvious he was blushing.
"yeah.. nice" yoongi said awkwardly, not knowing how exactly to respond.
"you're cute when you're flustered, carrot sticks. but I best be off. my ice creams gonna melt" jungkook said, pointing to his bags before brushing a piece of yoongi's hair off his nose, before shooting him a charming smile.
"bye bye" yoongi shyly mumbled.
"byeeee" sang jungkook as he walked the opposite way yoongi had came.
forgetting momentarily that he was on a time crunch, yoongi hurriedly sped into the store to shop. he hoped he'd have enough time to eat once he got back to the library.
thankful that the rain was no longer as heavy, yoongi didn't bother hiding his bag from the rain. instead, he carried it normally as he snacked on a chocolate bar he'd brought as the snack in his meal deal, and left his pasta bowl and drink inside his bag to drink when he got back to the library. he didn't buy a carrier bag, as he had space inside his normal bag to carry it all.
yoongi had a thing with carrier bags; he hated them with a passion. they took up too much space and were undoubtedly bad for the planet. yoongi always used reusables and refused to do otherwise.
