Marcus Flint, as the name implies; Marcus comes from the word Mars which means God of war and Flint which is a rock called fire rock, clearly giving an idea of what the person is like. Whether it was intentional or not, his parents had given him a name that suited his personality. He's the kind of person who's hard to approach. It was as difficult as trying to approach a savage lion with meat in his mouth. That's how the world sees him. Even so, how the world sees and how he sees himself is not that much different.
Marcus was raised in the same way as all the first children and successors of the Flint family. All his life was how to become the perfect successor.
until harry potter get in the picture. At first, he just thought of Harry Potter as entertainment. Wouldn't it be silly if he could influence the hero of the wizarding world into Slytherin? Actually, he didn't expect that to actually happen, but who would have thought that Bacon of the Light was selected to the place believed to be the gathering place for the dark wicthes and Wizards.
It does not end there, what is in his head about the image of the Hero of Wizarding world, overturned after interacting with him. He expected the boy to be like Malfoy; with a head bigger than he could bear, acting as if the world were in his grasp. But he met instead the chickadee-a small bird with a black head and blue wings-Shy, who couldn't even lift his own pile of books, with witty eyes that hid secrets as well as Wits. Unknowingly Marcus has fallen into a trap, really hard.
Harry Potter is not Gryffindor. But he has courage-or perhaps luck-that exceeds what it takes for a Gryffindor to stay around Marcus who is notoriously tempramental and not averse to being cruel. The Chickadee didn't even blink as he watched the evidence of Marcus ' cruelty before his eyes. But it takes more than courage and luck to convince a monster that he can touch the Unicorn.
Unicorn, icon of Light. For a lifetime it did not cross his mind that a Unicorn would touch him, a dark wizard. Anyone knows unicorns are very picky animals, even with a light wizard, if they had ever been slightly contaminated with dark magic. I don't know what Harry did so that the Unicorns would touch him, it makes no sense. But there Harry, like a saint with glistening eyes and a mysterious smile, stretched out his hand like a bridge to a world beyond Marcus's reach.
Yes, Marcus could have thought of him as a saint, after all, surviving a Killing Curse is not something a human being can experience-yeah, he's like a saint, if only he could stop talking nonsense-
"-- Then when the car landed, it landed on Whomping Willow. Hey, did you know that there's a secret room in Whomping Willow?- "Harry straightened his back, his hands raised dramatically, making Marcus stagger forward, trying to restore their balance. Harry, unaware of Marcus's difficulties, continued to ramble, " -- I wonder if that room has a secret passage like inside Hogwarts that could lead us to Hogsmade! Because you know, right?"he cast a conspiratorial gaze, "" -- Whomping Willow still belongs to Hogwarts!"he swung his legs excitedly, making Marcus sigh while rolling his eyes.
"Shut up! Stop talking or I'll throw you!"which instead made the Boy wrap his arms around his neck, making it difficult for him to breathe," Potter!"
"Ssttt, "he covered Marcus's mouth," listen carefully. I heard this song in my head last night-" and he started singing.
Salazar... if only he could shut up!
If only, Marcus never begged for this.
Because Marcus, for the first time became a witness to how Harry Potter can be completely silent. And it's scary. The originally shining emerald eyes, became dim. Not even his breathing was heard, as if he was afraid of something Marcus couldn't see. He is like a living corpse that moves only out of habit. He eats what's in front of him, even if it's an onion sandwich (Harry hates onion sandwiches). He went to class, changed clothes, took a shower, as if exposed to imperius curse. The highlight is when he does not stand in front of Marcus ' room hugging a pillow, instead sleeping in his own bed. Making Marcus's eyes twitch and his instincts scream vigilantly. Harry didn't even respond to the conversation, let alone anger. There is a bubble that separates him from the real world.
