Bashing heads in is now what I do for a living. Wait. Hear me out for a second alright? Ever since this stupid apocalypse hit everything just went spiraling. Good lord now a days a girl can barely catch a break. It all started a couple weeks ago on one day at school, the alarm had been set off and was blaring through the speakers, we heard our principals voice screaming, "RUN HOME! THERE'S SAID TO BE A VIRUS CHILDREN GO HOME AND ONCE YOU GET THERE DONT LEAVE"

That's when all hell broke lose. Everyone was panicking and pushing past each other, me included. I wanted to go home. I want to see mom and dad and make sure they're okay. What if I didn't see them again? Nono I shouldn't think like that. Mom and dad are safe, they'll be okay.

I never saw them after that day.

When you left all you could see were people scrambling and zombies tearing people apart, quite literally. Everyone was in panic and people were rushing home. I even saw a child get bit as his skin turned an unhealthy pale and his eyes turned bloodshot and clouded over. I gasped and ran for my life as I sprinted  home pray mom and dad were alright. I slam open the door to my home and I see no one. All that's left is a note on the counter.

"Y/n, we're leaving to find a safer spot for us all, the house won't be able to sustain us forever, stay in the house and don't leave for the time being though. You should have enough supplies to last for a while dear. Stay safe and we'll meet again soon. Love you so much. -Mom and Dad"

I feel my eyes stinging as a read the note  over a couple more times and then I remember that the door is still open as I remember that the door is still open and I rush over to close it. But when I arrive at the door, I'm faced with a pale sickly face and skin pealing at the edges caked with blood as the blood thirsty creature stares at me ready to charge.

I grab the nearest thing which is the umbrella in the holder next to the door and arm it to protect myself. Ready to fight the monster.  I'm not all that weak just so you know. I've taken self defense classes and my hits and kicks hurt but regardless I'm still weary.

It readies itself and charges at me, clouded bloody eyes bulging. But I'm prepared, I hit it and push it back with the side of my umbrella as I stab through its head, green blood oozes out and kick it out my door. I slam the door shut and lock it.

I'm quick to go check the other rooms making sure my house's doors were locked on all sides and the windows too. You can never be too cautious. Once I finally finish checking my knees let out and I can feel myself shaking as beads of sweat fall down my face. I register everything that's happened in the past few hours slowly taking it all in. Nothings going to be the same after this huh, I think to myself.

I was right.

But that was months ago, I'm stronger now.
