[Author Note]

Hi! This story is a prompt from on twitter, and I tried my best to make bring it alive.

Please, read the tags and be mindful about the warnings. This has some heavy stuff including violence and attempt of rape. This story is in no way encouraging that kind of behavior, but it is put into the story to show the character's development.

Also, this Vegas and this Pete are my interpretation of them, with characterization being adjusted to the story and my perception of their relationship.

Once again, please be mindful and responsible of the media you consume through the internet. Your sanity is your own responsibility. Don't read this if any of the things on the tag and warning trigger you. Put yourself first.

Anyway, hope you like the story.

It has been both confusing and heartwarming for Pete, the way Vegas reached out to the back of his head and pulled him closer to plant a kiss on his forehead.

He was going out of town, he said, there was a deal he needed to close with a client in Chiang Mai. His father had been micromanaging him, giving the impression that this one deal is Vegas' final assessment that he needed to succeed no matter what--or his place as the heir of the second family business would be in danger.

"What are you so tense about?" Pete asks as Vegas moves to hug him one more time. They were sitting on Vegas' wide bed and the chain on Pete's hand rattled--it now has become a white background noise he used to hear, bringing on weeks of living with it.

"Nothing." Vegas said, inhaling Pete's scent one more time before he releases the hug.

"Stop with this weird behaviour, you are giving me goosebumps!" Pete playfully shoved Vegas' chest away, but still careful enough because he's scared that the man's switch would immediately turn into the satan Vegas again.

But contrary to what he expected, Vegas let out a little laugh.

"...Pete, you're trying to be a brat with me now," he said. The evil smile makes him look intimidating even when he never really hurt Pete anymore lately, "...just wait till I get back."

"...don't get back then! As long as Nop is here bringing me Southern food, I don't need you here." Pete said, pushing his luck now.

"Nop is going with me this time, Pete," Vegas said as he stood up and took his laptop bag, "...I need him. Nui will be in charge of your meal for two days, I have made sure that he knows all the shops you like."

Then great! Pete thinks. Without Nop, maybe Pete can try to persuade Nui and make him bring him something useful to break the chain. This plan might work! Yes, it's good that Nop is going with his evil boss.

"...don't try to do anything funny, Pete, Nui will not get you anything but food and utensils."

Pete cringed at how accurately Vegas could read him. Damn! Just when he would get the right timing to escape.

"...wait for me to get home, yeah, Pete?" Vegas said. His voice somehow gets lower and... hopeful. Pete doesn't even know how to describe it. It almost sounds like a sincere request, even.

Pete didn't answer, mostly because he was busy looking at Vegas' sullen expression, as if he was in deep thought and worry.

Pete thinks, maybe he shouldn't try to jab at the man again, he looks pretty serious.
