Chapter 6: The Aftermath

Husk wrapped his arms protectively around Katia and he placed her behind him as some of the men carefully tried to reach for her. "Катя! Отойди от этого человека в этот момент! (Katia! Get away from that man this instant!)" Her father roared. "Нет! Почему я не могу выбрать, за кого я хочу выйти замуж? Мама хотела бы, чтобы я был с человеком по моему выбору, и я выбираю его! (No! Why can't I choose who I want to marry? Mom would have wanted me to be with the person of my choosing and I choose him!)" Katia yelled back as she went to Husk's side and wrapped her arms around him. They then began to argue and Katia named every reason why Husk was better than the man that she was to marry. Her father was getting furious and he raised a large hand and Katia's eyes widened as she knew what he was going to do. She closed her eyes and prepared for what was to come next, however she heard some of the men gasp. She opened her eyes and she saw Husk standing up and holding onto her father's wrist.  "Не смей даже думать о том, чтобы ударить ее! (Don't you dare ever even think about hitting her!)" Husk growled and her father glared at him.
"Назови мне одну вескую причину, почему я должен позволить тебе быть с моей дочерью. Ты явно не богат и не важен, так зачем мне даже давать тебе мое благословение? (Give me one good reason why I should allow you to be with my daughter. You're clearly not wealthy or important, so why would I even give you my blessing?)" Nikolai retorted and Husk was silent.

"Он может быть не богатым, но он умный, смелый, заботливый, харизматичный, и он любит меня такой, какая я есть. Когда мы впервые встретились, он не знал, кто я, и ему все же удалось хотя бы заинтересоваться мной! Да, мы знали друг друга только на короткое время, но я хочу узнать его побольше, и кто знает, может быть, даже сможет создать с ним семью (He may not be rich, but he's smart, brave, caring, charismatic, and he loves me for who I am. When we first met, he didn't know who I was and he still managed to at least be interested in me! Yes we have only known each other for a short time, but I want to get to know him more and who knows, maybe even be able to start a family with him)" Katia began and tears started to form in her eyes. Husk was quick to be at her side and she put a hand on his shoulder. "Кто знает, я мог бы нести его ребенка сейчас (Who knows, I might be carrying his child now)" Katia admitted sheepishly.

"Я знаю, что все это злит тебя, но если ты действительно любишь меня и считаешь меня своей дочерью, тогда ты позволишь нам быть вместе. Вы можете не думать, что он идеально подходит для меня, но я делаю! Просто посмотрите, как он быстро защищал меня! (I know that all of this angers you, but if you truly love me and see me as your daughter, then you will allow us to be together. You may not think that he is perfect for me, but I do! Just look how he was quick to defend me!)" she said and her father was silent.

"Деметрий, позаботься о гостях, пока я разберусь с ними в моем офисе. Скажите им, что до дальнейшего уведомления свадьба откладывается, и они будут наслаждаться приемом, пока я не решу, возобновится ли свадьба (Demetri, handle the guests while I deal with them back at my office. Tell them that until further notice, the wedding is postponed and they are to enjoy the reception until I decide if the wedding will resume)" he ordered and Demetri quickly ushered off the men. Nikolai motioned for them to follow him and soon they were in a large car that was taking them to an undisclosed location. The ride was silent and Husk put a hand over Katia's hand reassuringly. She then looked at him and smiled. After what felt like an eternity, they had arrived and they were seated in Nikolai's office. Some sharply dressed men entered the room and stood behind Nikolai.

Katia and Husk sat in the chairs across from Nikolai and Katia gasped when he pulled out a gun from a drawer. Husk's gaze remained on Nikolai while Katia watched him place the gun on his desk.

"Итак, вот как все пойдет вниз. Катя возвращается, чтобы жениться, а ты идешь куда-нибудь, где мои люди могут присматривать за тобой и следить за тем, чтобы ты больше ничего не пробовал. Понял? (Now then, here's how things are gonna go down. Katiana is going back to get married and you are going somewhere where my men can keep an eye on you and make sure that you don't try anything like this again. Understood?)" Nikolai threatened. "Нет! (No!)" Katia yelled as she stood up from her chair. "Мне все равно, что вы думаете, я выбираю шелуху, и вы ничего не можете с этим поделать! (I don't care what you think, I choose Husk and there is nothing you can do about it!) she argued and she then smirked. "Кроме того, вы пообещали им девственницу, и я больше не один! (Besides, you promised them a virgin and well, I'm not one anymore!)" She then turned to one of the henchmen and ordered him to get her a damp towel. The henchman looked at Nikolai, who shooed him away. Moments later he returned and handed Katia what she demanded. She took the cloth and Nikolai gasped when she wiped her neck and revealed marks littering her neck and onto her shoulder. Husk smirked and he too stood up.

"Кстати, ты не единственный, кого она называет папой (By the way, you're not the only one who she calls daddy)" Husk jeered and some of the goons remained frozen in fear of their boss' reaction, while others tried to keep themselves from laughing.

"Убирайся! (Get out!)" Katia's father roared and Katia threw the damp towel onto her father's desk before leading Husk out of the room and into another room.

When they were finally alone, Katia smacked his arm "Ты мудак (You asshole)" she said while she laughed. "Ты любишь меня (You love me)" he said with a laugh and Katia kissed his cheek. "я делаю (I do)" she said with a smile and a happy sigh and they went silent as Husk calmed down from his laughing. Katia then laid her head on Husk's shoulder and she let out a content sigh. Husk smiled softly as he used his hand that was close to Katia to stroke her head. She then raised her head and looked at him seriously.

"Теперь, когда мой отец знает о нас, он захочет убить тебя. Тебе нужно улизнуть сегодня вечером. Я помогу вам сбежать, отвлекая вас, но вам нужно быть быстрым (Now that my father knows about us, he's gonna want to kill you. You need to sneak out tonight. I'll help you escape by providing a distraction, but you're gonna need to be fast)" she explained and she took a hold of his hands. "А как насчет вас? (What about you?)" he asked. "Мы можем встретиться, как только вы сбежали (We can rendezvous once you have escaped)" she said and Husk agreed. After they decided where to meet, they snuck out of the room and put their plan on motion.

Husk remained hidden as Katia distracted some of the henchmen, giving them fake orders from her father. Once they had left, Katia roamed the area and he remained hidden as he followed her. She gave him a thumbs up to signal that it was safe and Husk quickly ran out of the area as fast as he could.

Husk paused his story to take a long swig of his drink. "You okay? You seem to be getting all emotional?" Dee asked. "I'm fine." he retorted through gritted teeth. "So, what happened next?" Charlie asked and Husk took a deep breath.

"I went to where we were supposed to meet. I waited for hours for her to show up, but she never did..." he said carefully and everyone, aside from Alastor, gasped. "I found out days later that she was dead. She was stabbed through the heart and she bled to death." he explained and Charlie quickly hugged him. "Oh Husk." she said as she tried to comfort him. Husk shrugged her off and stormed off to his room where he spent the next few days.
