Laying in the snow, the wolf woke to find a young child sitting infront of her.

She lifted her head before tilting side to side when the boy slowly reached out.

He gently stroked the fur along the wolf's head and she closed her eyes as if enjoying the affection.

The gang had Charles check the wolf's gender and it was then discovered it was a female.

She had managed to scratch her name into the snow, Y/n it had read.

So now that the gang had a name for the wolf, they felt a bit more comfortable.

Abigail, one of the women and the only mother, had let the wolf near Jack but this was the first time he had ever touched the wolf.

Or been alone around Y/n.

She merely laid her head back down as she enjoyed the pats and ignored the woman walking towards them.

She felt a larger hand begin to pet her along her back and peaked open one eye.

Abigail had crouched beside her son and was also patting the predator.

She had tears strolling down her face as her eyes were puffy and red, her nose flushed red along with her cheeks.

Sitting up, the wolf licked away the tears before resting her head on the woman's shoulder almost like a hug.

Feeling arms wrap around the larger body, Y/n nuzzled against the human.

The harsh, cold wind started to get stronger as the two humans stood up.

The wolf sat up and watched them walk off before hearing a faint crunch of snow.

She noticed the older man, Hosea, standing just by one of the cabin doors.

He patted his thigh as if calling her and Y/n trotted over, no signs of any aggression or tension.

Her tail and ears relaxed, black fur covered by a light snow.

"Come on, it's freezing outside"

Following the older man, the wolf sniffed around in the cabin and found a journal.

She picked it up, trying her best to not drool or damage it, and carried it over to Arthur who sat on his bed patting his pockets.

He glanced up and noticed the journal almost immediately.

He hesitantly reached out and gently gripped the journal before feeling the book get released from the jaws of the wolf.

"You might not be so bad, guess you can sleep here. Don't drool though, I ain't cleaning it up."

Arthur grumbled, placing the journal down after wiping it with his sleeve.

Y/n huffed before turning to face the doorway, she growled as it swung open but stopped when Jack stepped into the room.

"Wolfy!"

He laughed, running and hugging the wolf that licked his cheek.

She lay down and curled around the boy who stumbled into a sitting position.

Jack smiled as he played with the wolf's tail, trying to catch it but she would swiftly move it out of his grip.

"Yay!"

The child cheered as he finally caught the tail and hugged it like a teddybear.

Y/n felt completely exhausted and had accidently shifted to human form.

Suddenly realizing her skin was touching cold wood and no fur was protecting her from the cold.

She stood and bolted out the cabin into the snow.

Living in the mountains for so many years had made her tougher than the average human, to the point that the cold and snow didn't affect her.

Hearing the men shout and horses storming after her, she shifted again and bolted through the snow.

Her black fur was not easy to hide in the snow but she managed to make a few sharp turns and ducked under a fallen tree.

The leaves made enough cover to hide her as the horses raced past her.

When she could no longer hear or smell them, the wolf crept away into the mountains.

Maybe being around humans wasn't the best idea.

It was bound to happen, Y/n sometimes would shift by complete accident.

Sniffing around, she caught the scent of a fresh kill and immediate trotted after the scent.

Noticing a slightly eaten rabbit carcass, the wolf sniffed it before beginning to munch away.

Not aware of the net until it was thrown on her and she was held down.

Something was injected into her and Y/n felt incredibly tired all of a sudden, must've been some sedative.

Struggling to even stand, the wolf collapsed and felt herself getting dragged through the snow.

Watching the rabbit carcass get further and further until her vision blurred then nothing.

Pitch black was now all she saw.

Hopefully she would wake up and this would all be a bad dream, probably not.

The hooves crunching the snow slowly faded into nothing as the voices also faded.
