So America. Yeah... Not the best place for me. I have to admit in the movies I guess it looked like heaven or something but trust me. If I could describe it in one word...hell. I moved to America after college where I studied astronomy, but my mother wasn't happy that I applied for that so she kind of made me go into law because it's the best for me. That's when I moved. Only for a year. I love my mother that I wanted her to be proud of me so I found the best law school and went. But today. Today I finally come back home! I'm so excited to see everyone again. Especially my big brother Ralph. My best friend really. I'm currently on the plain waiting to land! Six hours is a very long time to be exited for, so to waist the time, I read about my favourite thing. Stars. It's kind of a nerdy topic I know but what can I say. It all started when I was a little girl, I used to beg my dad to take me to the hill that was just by the park outside where I used to go to school. We used to go every Thursday and lay down underneath the stars and just talk. He would tell me that one day when he is not around anymore, that he will be up there, looking down on me, making sure I'm alright. He also said that whenever I needed someone to talk to, just lay down look up and talk. Since then I've been obsessed. He died when I was 13 by cancer. A little bit of me thought that he knew he was going to die, that's why he told me the star thing. God I miss him.
" Thank you for flying with us today. We hope you had a lovely flight. Hope to see you all again"
I looked out the window and here I was. Home. I was home.Few hours later I drove home listening to my dad's favourite song. 'I want you to want me' -John holt-
He always used to listen to it. I pulled up outside my house where I was greeted by my mother and brother with open arms. We hugged for like 20 seconds. After that we got my luggage out the car and took it all inside.
" how was America honey? Tell us all about it" my mother excitedly asked.
"Very educational. That's all I have to say. I'm just so relieved I'm back home"
I took a deep breath taking in the home smell.
"I missed you squirt" that's my brothers nickname for me.
"Missed you too"
After settling in and packing my bags, I looked out my bedroom window and see it getting dark. I knew then that I said hello to my mother and brother but I was missing someone out.
"Mom I'm just heading out" I said.
"Where are you going sweetie" she asked.
"To see dad! I haven't said hi to him yet! He doesn't know I'm back" after I explain where I was going, the door shut and I was off.
"Oh he knows your back... trust me" she whispered as I left.I decided to walk so that when I get to the hill it would be the perfect darkness. I eventually reached there. I lay down on the dry fresh grass and looked up.
" hi dad"
I told him everything that happened in America. All the good and bad stuff. After a while I had to tell him that although I wanted to make mom proud and be a A lawyer, I really wanted to become a writer, and write about the stars and all the wonderful things about them. Just something other then a lawyer.
"Having fun there?" A strange voice that sounded so far away said.
I sat up and just out of the distance a person was walking up. No a boy. As he got closer I could see what he looked like . Mousey brown hair with bright green eyes. He looked athletic.
"You must me Lillian right?" He asked.
"Yes... I am" I said confused
"Wait how do you know me? Who are you if you don't mind me asking?" I asked
"Right. I'm sorry I just kind of ambushed you there ahah. I'm Quinn and we'll everyone kind of knows you for coming up here. They say that if we ever need to find you, your here"
"Ah right. Heard that from Doris did you." Doris. The gossiper in this town. She's the dance teacher. Teaches all the young kids all sorts of dance. She kind of looked after me my whole life, kind of like a second mom.
"Yeah...small town"
"Well nice to meet you Quinn, I'm Lillian even though you already knew that."
"Yeah well. Hey I hope you don't mind that I came up here. I could tell you were talking to someone on the phone or something and I just kind of interrupted"
"no no no don't worry about it I was just... talking to my.. dad"
Quinn looked around clueless
"on the phone?"
"No he's erm..." I looked up. Quinn also looked up.
"Oh I see. I'm sorry for bringing it up" he said softly.
"It's fine. You must think I'm strange by talking to some stars right" I glanced over to him.
"Not at all, I find it quite nice actually" he then glanced at me. We said nothing for a good 10 seconds. His green eyes reminded me of the grass in the summer. So bright and warm. They were intriguing.we just looked at each other. Then he give a sweet smile. I could feel the red crossing my face.
" sorry I sort of spaced out then ahah. Your kind of the first person to say it's not weird to talk to you know, when he's not here."
"No worries, sometimes it's good to talk to them. Somewhere he's listening to you, Probably laughing with you. So just don't stop talking to him because trust me, he's there" he said looking at me dead in the eyes.
"Promise me star girl. Even if people think it's weird. You won't stop taking to him"
...
"I promise you "
As the words ' I promise you ' escaped my mouth I looked at him. A feeling inside me recognised his face from somewhere. But I don't know where from"
I said I'm my thoughts
' Where have I seen you before kind boy? Where'Let me know what you guys think, this is my first story, so if you want a part two,, let me know in the comments ❤️
